Anyone know about hiring live-in aides? Anyone who might be directly interested in such a job, PM me.

I would be very leary of soliciting applications for employment of any sort on Internet forums, and not just the TMF. In fact, I'd say flat out a bad idea. There are reputable places where people can be hired. Good luck.
Thanks for the article and the advice. I posted here because I'm aware there are some healthcare professionals here, and I thought they might give me some tips. Also, the article you referenced suggests putting an ad on Craigslist as one option. I don't know that that would be more reasonable than checking TMF, where other people I could easily contact would likely know a person under consideration. Here, I could have a first level filter.
Call your county.....they should have either a list of aides or support companies who contract with aides. We also have 211 first call for help-it's a United Way agency that has connections with social services in my area. Check to see if you have such in your state.
Give me a day or two and I'll ask my son's provider what you could do in your state.
kissy, you needn't do that. You have plenty on your plate as is. I'm just in the information-gathering phase of the process at the moment.
Trust me, I can use the distraction.
Besides, I want you to be safe and you can't trust too many people out here.
