In short, I think that many people's level of indulgence and how far it has driven the online scene is pretty embarrassing. It's changed a lot over the years. It's hard to explain, but there was a certain dignity that has been lost. I think too many of the people who come here seem to just over-indulge, immerse themselves in it all, and become steadily more detached from reality. Perhaps it's just a natural counter-reaction to the lack of acceptance and belonging they felt before they found all of this, but I don't think it's any healthier. It has created a scene that would look just plain bizzarre to an outsider. I'm sorry to say it but I find myself ashamed of most of the content on the web these days (ed- more "embarrassed by an increasing amount of it"), from video producers to people's avatars. I'm not at all ashamed of tickling in real life, but this is getting to be something else. Any thoughts or dissagreement welcome...

I disagree. I think that people who choose to go further with the tickling scene than others are just better multitaskers. For instance, I occasionally write stories, I attend NEST, and I am thinking about starting my own line of tickling videos. Does that mean that I am becoming disattatched from reality? Not at all. In fact, I work a steady full time job, I am going to school to get my assorted Microsoft certifications, and I run my own small business as a Computer Technician. I still find time to spend with my lovely girlfriend Meg (IrishGirl5).

Do some people take it too far? Yes, I think it does happen. There are some people who take it beyond their own limits and begin to detatch from reality, but it's not because of their tickling fetish. If given any other idea, concept, or activity that they could obsess over, the same would happen. It has nothing to do with content, it's all about intent.

Do people who make a living by running their own business that revolves around tickling have a "problem" or are going too far. I think not. In fact, I salute those people who are video producers, photographers, and web designers, who specifically work for the tickling community and make a living off of it, because they are entrepenuers. They are taking an idea and activity that is not exactly "kosher" to the eyes of the general public and are turning it into a thriving business. Who cares what an outsider thinks? They don't have to involve themselves in our kink. Are they detatched from reality, too? No, because they have lives, they pay taxes, and they have "vanilla" relationships outside of the scene.

I am not by any means ashamed of the content of the web, be it related to tickling or not. You're into what you're into, and those who do not like it don't need to view the sites. If you feel ashamed of the content of tickling sites, then in my opinion, you should avoid them all together.

The only time your taking something WAY WAY TOO FAR is when your thinking about that thing or even person non stop 24 hours a day and 7 days a week and your losing sleep over that one thing or things and not going outside and seeing the sunshine or not hanging out with your close family members/parents/real life friends/your pets etc......

When that starts happening then that is when you really need to take a few steps back and find out what is really the most important to you in the long run. Your kink and fetish? or your loved ones?

Their is only two choices. There is no middle road or side street.

This is true, but I'm not blaming the existance of the tickling fetish. The internet is almost biological in the way it evolves - no single person is to blame for the way I feel. I'm not blaming you and I don't blame people who make a living off it - they are not the driving force. Ironically, alot of the people who take the time to reply to this will be well-rounded members even more at ease with themselves than me, and hence not at all concerned with how we appear. I am only young though: Perhaps I'd care less if I were older.

I find that the rest of the world is detached from my reality. What is reality anyway? What is conventional? What is acceptable? I see nothing wrong with indulging this lifestyle. It is no more bizarre than indulging in other things that life has to offer.

I don't think what you're talking about is unique to us but I do think I know the feeling you're talking about. I think every aspect of culture has been impacted by the internet. And probably was impacted by television in a similar way, and maybe the telephone and telegraph too. Hell, maybe even fire 🙂. Things become faster, more focused, and specialized, and the diluted sense of things happening at a slower, more natural pace starts to fade away and become something else.

In 20 years we'll probably all be complaining about how everything has changed since they implanted telepathy chips in our skulls 🙂

To me this is kind of the evolution of life. We over time have become gradually (and sometimes not so gradually) hedonistic in our lives. I don't think it is necessarily a bad thing. The web seems to give a lot of us a place to express the feelings that we may be too ashamed or self conscious of in the "real world". I'm pretty fearless even in my "vanilla" life but the web has certainly become an outlet for me. Embarrassing? Not at all, I have nothing to be embarrassed of here.
