Where I live a group of people recently won 14 million dollars in a lottery. Trouble is, 9 people won but three people who usually play didn't get in the pot. So I ask you, are they entitled to a share of the winning? Your thoughts on this.

If you didn't play you shouldn't be intitled to someone else's winnings, its as simple as that. Its only a "pool" win if ALL participate and agree before hand that if any of their tickets are winners then regardless of who has the winning ticket, they each share and share alike in the payoff. Otherwise, those that did not are not intitled to the money just because they normally would have purchased a ticket which may or may not have been a winner. If the people that won want to be generous then fine, but it shouldn't be expected.

It'd be nice to say they are entitled, but they ain't. For the sake of friendship, the winners could give them an amount anyway, though.
Reminds me of one instance though, where a syndicate won but the person in charge of the syndicate claimed to have forgotten to put the tickets on before the draw, then ran off with the £15m.
Lottery Syndicates are, in my opinion, generally just a bad idea anyway. You're relying on everyone being fair and equal, but it's common that (a group of people)+(loadsadosh)=greed - pure and simple. Sad to say, but it is. 🙁

I agree with Nessie -- they aren't really entitled to anything if they didn't play that week, but it would be a nice gesture for the winners to share a percentage with them because 14 million dollars is a lot of money 🙂
