Yestreday,Oct.23rd,I was at a truck stop in a town called Smithton,Pa It's around 30 miles south of Pittsburg,Pa along interstate 70 This truck stop has a Perkins resturaunt in it I decided to go eat supper there

When I sat down I noticed all of the workers at the resturaunt had on Pittsburg Steelers football shirts I asked the young lady if this was a Steelers town

She told me they had to wear them She also told me that if they didn't wear one to work that day they would be told to go home I asked if they would be re-imbursed for buying them She said no

Now I don't care if someone loves their favorite team and buys clothing that has their team logo on it But to make someone buy a shirt with a team logo on it to wear at work? I think that is going to far

Personally I don't care for sports at all :sowrong:

If the owner of the restaurant wants to have a Steelers theme that's fine, but the employees should be reimbursed for the cost of the "uniform".

I'm a sports fan but I agree that making the restaurant workers wear those shirts without reimbursement is just plain wrong. 😡 I wonder who is responsible (the owner/manager/parent company of the restaurant?) and if that practice is legal? If it is, it's a slap in the face (and a hole in their pockets) to the people who have to work there to make ends meet. 🙁

I'm not a sports fan at all, and one of the many reason is sports fans. I don't know it is, but yelling at a screen with no hope of the ump hearing you doesn't make much sense to me. Nor does saying that we will do this or that if you haven't play for that team.

Anyway, I worked for a sports bar as a bartender. Thankfully we were never required to wear a sports uniform. They allowed us to wear one with the store logo on it, or the regular store uniform. As a non-sports fan in a sports bar, it was hard, but I did tell people that a non-sport bartender was good as I didn't get distracted by the televison.

To me, I think this is a bit of an extreme example of a love of sports. However, Iam sure it is not uncommon in certain venues, say, during World Series, Super Bowl, NBA, or Stanley Cup finals games, for people who work in certain professions, to wear sportswear supporting their favorite team.
Iam a Braves fan, and if I lived in Atlanta, and owned a company or bar, I wouldnt make it mandatory for my workers to, for instance, wear Braves jerseys or hats during the playoffs or World Series.
Perhaps the owner of the place you were at was just trying to drum up a bit of team spirit, so to say.
