Ladainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers scored his third TD of the evening on a 7 yard run and broke Shawn Alexander's TD mark of 28 TD's in a season. Alexander set the mark a year ago in 16 games. LT has broken the record in just 13 games. San Diego leads this game against Denver 48-20 as the game continues in San Diego.

While i hate the bolts,i must say congrats to L.T.The guy is the best all around running back in the NFL.If the Chiefs cant win the division, which will not happen AGAIN sigh,i would rather see S.D. win it then the donkeys or the raiders. But if Marty wins a Super Bowl,im goona be SOOOOOOOOOO pissed. :cry1:

Ladanian deserves it. He's a class act as well as an exciting player and I'm glad I got to see history made on tv this evening. Congrats to LT. :bowing: :bowing:

Very impressive......with three games to go as well - this record might be kept for a while; it would take super human effort to break it especially when you become a marked man. It reminds me a lot of the Marcus Allen and Bo Jack, everyone knew they were going to get the ball but you couldn't stop them,

What everyone else said. :bowing: He may go down as the greatest running back of all time before he is finished.

That's a pretty big call to make.....one I don't disagree with but still a big call to make.

Tomlinson is only 27 years old. I figure he has another three or four outstanding years left in him. Most star running backs are productive until 30 or 31. Think of all the records he will break in that time. That is as long as he stays healthy.

At the moment, he has 8,788 yards for his career. I think be the time the season is over he will EASILY amass 9,000 career yards. With five more years of averaging 1,500 yards a season, that will give him a total of 16,500 yards which will, correct me if I am wrong, put him on top with the most yards all time. This is by the time he is 32. Any years after that will be gravy.

If those numbers hold up, who can argue otherwise? Even that isn't number one all time, still, it's nothing to sneeze at.

On another note, and this is no disrespect to Tomlinson, but there is only one LT, and he wore #56. Coming from a somewhat biased 😀 Giants fan.

All I am saying is that only at the end of the day (meaning his playing days) can you call him the #1 back of all time....injuries happen. Its like me saying that Bo is the best back of all time he would of easily been the leading rusher ONLY an injury stopped him; see my point.

German, you are correct in that a running back is always one hit away from a career ending knee injury. Terrell Davis of Denver and Jamall Anderson of Atlanta were both young running backs who were headed for stardum when both suffered devastating knee injuries, and are now out of football.

Don't get me wrong I hope to God it doesn't happen to him.......but like your examples plus what happened to Bo; no one ever thought how he came down would cause his last carry.

I rate him very highly and always will but there always seems to be a 'flavor of the month' with running backs; Tiki, Alexander, Portis, Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson and then it only takes a year to forget great war horses who have done it over a massive period; Faulk and Curtis Martin come to mind.
