If the stars in the night sky were visible only for one night in a hundred years, we would never take them for granted.

Tonight, in North America, there is supposed to be a very good lunar eclipse. I didn't see any mention made of it here, so I thought I'd add it in case anyone was interested.

Enjoy!

Thanks, Mischief!

I watched it for a long time - getting darker & lighter, changing colors, with binoculars & with my naked eyes.

Magical.

You are very welcome, Button.

I wish I had posted it sooner, so as to give people more lead time to see it . . . but I had other matters to attend to this weekend. What's funny is I shared this information with some of my friends, but they are all so wrapped up in the day to day grind of the DC metro area that none of them could be bothered to look up at the night sky.

I wound up watching from the corner of a parking garage with the naked eye. The view from my location wasn't bad, although binoculars or a telescope would have been better. Much to my surprise, I met two others who had come out to watch from the same location. So, around totality (8:00 PM) the three of us are staring up at the sky for five minutes . . . while everyone else goes driving on by, never bothering to look up.

There's probably something metaphorical there. 😉

Connection...

I love astronomical events & the way they affect the earth and all of us - not only physically but also the way that the wonder of it all can relieve stress, providing refreshment from the mundane everyday routine.

Sadly many of the stressed-out people who could benefit from looking up are the very ones who can't be bothered.

Did you happen to see any of the photos of the Aurora Borealis resulting from last week's coronal ejaculation? (grin)

I watched it on Saturday, and it was about a 99% eclipse. Though it was a cloudy night, I managed to see it well. Imagine a diamond ring in the sky with orange within the ring. Fabulous view.

Thick clouds here.
