Edit: Yes, this is an old thread, and I'm the one that bumped it. I wanted to add a conclusion without starting a new thread.

Hi. I really love to be tickled, but I have a problem... I don't laugh when tickled, and I really want to... It just doesn't make me laugh, it makes me make faces and weird noises, but never a laugh...

I think tomorrow or pretty soon I'm going to have someone tickle me relentlessly to see if I will eventually let go and laugh, just to see if it will really work that way... If not, it will still be fun! But anyway, does anyone else suffer this problem and does anyone know of a solution or if this solution might work?

you aren't the only one. my girl squeals more than laughs, unless i find certain spots. then she goes into loud bursts of laughter and snorts. i also dated a girl for a time that was incredibly ticklish, but never, ever laughed from it. ever. her mouth would be wide open, tears streaming from her eyes, but she'd go from having a beautiful speaking voice to becoming a bisenji.

i guess it's a matter of finding "the" spot, the one that just makes you explode from laughter. either that, or you just aren't a laugher to begin with. unlike what other people think, no two people react to tickling the same exact way.

I think I am the same way until I am comfortable with the tickler. I don't have a myriad of experiences to draw from but I've noticed that as a lee I feel pressure to react. When this "pressure" goes away, I laugh hysterically. I know that I do this to myself.....but it is what it is! I'm with you though, I still love the tickling even if I am just squirming and enjoying the intimacy of it all.

im the same way ive found i tend to squim and move around more and let out little squeaks when im tickled

I've always been this way as well. I do laugh at times. But, more often than not, I just make all sorts of weird noises. While some would consider that a drawback, I actually don't mind it. It has its benefits. When you aren't laughing, you tend to have better control of your breathing. So, a tickle session can go on longer than it might otherwise go. There's also the often hillarious effect of everyone cracking up at all the noises.

Just enjoy the fun and don't worry about it.

I came to realize that I don't usually laugh either, and it took me awhile to realize why. For me, laughter is a nervous thing. As long as I'm still mobile, I don't usually laugh, I just squirm and buck. It's when restrained that I laugh because I have nothing else to do.

Yeah, I didn't mention the moving around more but I do that too...

I realize that everyone's different and won't react the same way, I just think I could enjoy it more if I could move less and just laugh, because it feels like I'm holding it in... I really do think I'm afraid of my laugh for some reason... So, maybe for those of you that said it was a comfort thing, maybe I'm just not comfortable with it yet or something... I donno, I'll mess around with it...

The couple times I've been tickled, I instinctively tried not to laugh. The last time, our own ali32 did get me laughing a little. Had she gone longer, I'm sure I would've shortly been putty in her capable hands. :ignite:

I panic, scream, kick and punch - Never laugh.

However, I don't get tickled on a regular basis, and I'm happy enough with that 🙂

Yay!

Okay, I know this thread is almost two years old, but I really wanted to update without starting a totally new thread, and being that I started it anyway, I figured that it needed a good finishing update.

Basically, the two people that I quoted here hit the nail right on the head - it wasn't that I naturally didn't laugh, it was that I, for some reason, was uncomfortable with my laugh - I really always have hated my laugh, so now, I definitely think that was the source of the problem. I think I even said something along those lines earlier in this thread. Well anyway, last night something amazing happened, and for whatever reason, I finally got over my laughter issues (yes, it took me two years...) and laughed my ass off during a session, and it was the greatest thing ever! Before, holding everything in made the tickling "okay," but actually letting everything out and laughing made the experience 10x more enjoyable, and best of all, my 'ler - who isn't really into tickling as much as I am - says that my laughter makes it more fun and enjoyable for her as well, so it can last longer. I really look foward to more sessions in the future, now, because I was starting to think I'd NEVER get what I wanted out of tickling...

So, the moral of the story is this; if you find yourself in my situation, wanting to laugh as a reaction to tickling but not being able to because of nervousness, self-consciousness, or whatever it is, find a 'ler you can trust, someone you don't mind laughing in front of, and let it all out! If you need to, do it face down so that you can laugh into something like a pillow, if that makes you feel better about it - that's what worked for me! But by all means, get past those fears - you'll feel SO much better about it in the end.

Anyway, sorry for bringing back an ancient thread. Feel free to continue the discussion, and thanks to all who commented, to the ones who did and are still around!
