Wouldn't have given it to Manning...
I understand the 9 game winning streak, but what people miss is that he spent the back half of the year beating up on some of the worst secondaries in the NFL...Texans, Patriots, Bengels, Lions, Jaguars, Chargers etc. Also, Manning's early ineffectiveness and sudden reemergence is in part due to his recovery from knee surgery, but can also be attributed to his offensive line getting healthy...at one point around week 5 all 5 were either out or playing hurt.
He also had the fortune of running into teams that were out of the running for the post-season and basically "dead" teams (two play-off teams from weeks 9-16)...his season this year reminds me a lot of Brett Favre's from last year.
On the line point, I'd love to see the day where OLs get a little more pub for their value. Was their any single unit of players more important to a single team than the Giants offensive line? I certainly don't think so. If I had to go with a more "traditional pick", I'd give it to Ryan.
