Never done any drugs in my life. (Let's not be smartasses and ask if I've ever taken cough syrup or something) I do plan to consume some alcohol throughout my life, but never get drunk. However, I think marijuana should be legalized.

1.It's only hurting the people using it.
2.The fact that it's illegal doesn't seem to be stopping anyone from doing it.

I used to, but no more, just got tired of thae stoned feeling, but one thing's for sure, it seems, pot never drove anyone to violence the way alcohol, cocaine, and other drugs tend to do... if anyone has heard any different, I'd like to hear... 🙂

Exactly. The drug war is misguided and a horrible failure. You need look no further than some of our friends in Western Europe, to find that legalization/decriminalization would not cause a surge in drug use, and would give treatment to people who really need help to stop using drugs. A heroin addict, for example, would likely not benefit from going to jail. He would either die, continue getting high in jail, or go right back to the needle as soon as he gets out. If we looked at drug addiction as a problem that requires treatment, perhaps some of these people could turn their lives around.

The thing about marijuana with me, is that it's a far less dangerous drug than alcohol and tobacco...and yet it remains illegal because the gov. can make more money off it by selling it to us and then throwing us in jail for having it 😉... that might sound radical, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was very close to the truth. I think one of the most compelling facts to support marijauna legalization is the fact that marijuana is NON-TOXIC; which means, that there is no chemical or component of marijuana that can cause you to overdose. The only possible ways to overdose on weed are to either be in an air-tight room filled with so much smoke, that you die of oxygen deprivation; or to eat so much of it (it would take several pounds) that your digestive system fails. Now compare this with alcohol and tobacco. We all know alcohol and nicotine are toxic substances...it is difficult to overdose on nicotine, but it does happen. And alchol overdose (binge drinking) is a big problem we've all heard about. Does it make sense that these substances are legal, and yet weed is illegal?

I could also go into the medical benefits of marijuana vs. other prescription drugs, but I'll save it 😉... if anyone wants to argue with me...lol... I'm pretty read up on this subject.

I'm not saying weed has no harmful effets at all; smoking ANYTHING isn't good for your lungs. But it is less dangerous for your health than cigarette smoking, and alcohol.

I'm pretty much on par with mav here. Except I really don't care much for the drinking either. I'll take a sip of champagne so I don't insult my host on New Years, etc....lol....but that's about it. Besides the general bad taste, I just pretty much try to minimize my intake of things that are likely to adversely affect my reasoning or decision-making abilities.

I agree completely with the final two points maverick listed. Take whatever you want. So long as folks don't drive or otherwise adversely affect anyone else at the time, I say let Darwinism do the rest.
