Hey! ANY team can have a bad CENTURY!!
No, I'm going to keep blaming Bartman. I doubt you have ever played baseball, or if you have you won't admit the obvious. This is what I have heard from those who have played the game -- it isn't a game played on adreneline (sp?) like football, basketball or hockey. The slowness of it means that players have too much time to think and therefore too much time to dwell on every negative (like a boneheaded "fan" interfering with a foul ball when he should have known that every out is precious). Karma plays a big role in baseball.
If Bartman allows Alou to at least TRY to make that catch, Gonzales doesn't boot the ground ball. It's all psychological, my Cubs-hating friend. And what the hell is the reference to Game 7? Did any sane person think the Cubs would win Game 7 after what happened in Game 6? Psychology. Any Red Sox fan will agree with me here. Did you honestly think the Red Sox were going to win Game 7 of the 1986 World Series? Are you even old enough to remember it?
And what about your cheap shot about Cubs fans upset about trades? Total nonsense. Yes, I love the Cubs. Loved them from the day I first stepped into Wrigley Field as a little girl. Loved them since my first bratwurst at Murphy's, seeing all the wonderful people digging on the sunshine and the baseball and the love. Loved Billy Williams and Glenn Beckert. Please forgive me for rooting for the wrong team.
Peace
I will never leave Bartman alone. He is the No. 1 embarrassment in Cubs history. He's supposed to be a Cubs fan, for God's sake, yet getting a free baseball is more important to him than his team winning a pennant. What a guy!
Can you imagine what would have happened to Bartman if he had done that at Yankee Stadium? He would have been lucky to leave with his life.
I never understood fans who risk being thrown out of the ballpark, not to mention serious injury, reaching for a batted ball. It's just a ball, people. You can buy one at any mall. There are few things more pathetic than seeing a grown man come to the ballpark with a baseball glove. Have some dignity!
As a Cubs fan, and someone that (not by choice) lives in Wrigleyville, I'd have to agree that Cubs fans are definitely the most obnoxious.
Probably because Cubs fans are mostly drunk frat kids and other idiots and I have to deal with them anytime I step out of my house if there's a game letting out or about to start.
This is why I don't go to Cubs games. Just watch on TV.
I suppose you also have something against grown men wearing a jersey or baseball hat to the game as well?
Did I say that? No? Then why do you assume I feel that way? You're on a fishing trip now.
Hate is eating away at your brain.
Mairead, I'll tell you about 29 other neighborhoods in the USA in which you should never live because you will see the same things 81 times from April-September.
You made a comment on guys who bring gloves. Granted i havent done that since god knows when but people who make similar arguments about the glove aspect say guys are being childish for wearing jerseys or ball caps to games etc etc
Just seeing where you stand
Yeah, I've lived in a lot of other neighborhoods and demographics plays a big part. I live in a predominately yuppie neighborhood with a pretty big gay community, the latter of which doesn't annoy me in the slightest. Who goes to cubs games? Yuppies. Who else? Suburban frat kids that like to drink and they come out in droves.
I mean, you're right, there are other neighborhoods like that, but that doesn't make my point any less valid.
I'll be sure to take you up on that suggestion.
Anyway, it's not such a problem that I would want to move, I'm not exactly right next door to the stadium, more like a few blocks.
But my opinion of Cubs fans being annoying still stands.
The end.
Cubs fans, and perhaps Monkees fans too.
