Just a thought.
How "addicted" civilization must be to make "feet" a standard linear measure =)

Have you ever tried to extend it some more? f.e. to measure "foot" (meaning sole) or armpit in "fingertips", by goose-steps, or knees/ribcage in "jabs" as "fingertip moving"?

I do hope i get you right here...

I hardly think that this has anything to do with addiction. It simply comes natural. See when you don´t have a system to measure distances with then you will have to invent one right? Now what are you most likely going to use for that? Something you have close by i´d say. That is the same reason why some ways to measure the length of something was to compare it to the length between the elbow and the hand. The rulers arm was commonly used for that i believe. Now if you are searching for something to measure the distance you walk...what would you use? Personaly i´d go with "steps" but since they can vary...once a fott is fully grown it usually doesn´t change in length.
