Meeting Michale Moore...

Yo,

Michael Moore, the "Roger and Me" and "Downsize This" documentary director/activist/humorist (and host of T.V. Nation & The Awful Truth) will be in Dallas on Sunday for a book signing and I plan on being there. Since I saw the NAFTA post, as well as the racial profiling and the Kraft/Lifesaver posts, I was wondering if anyone on the TMF had any thoughts or subjects that they'd want mentioned to Mr. Moore while I had a chance?

I got a chance to see him (not meet) during my university days a few years back. I liked Roger & Me, but thought Downsize this was not well written. I think he has some good ideas, but it's somewhat apparent that forming cohesive thoughts was a bit difficult for him to do in print. Despite all this, his heart is usually in the right place, even if his politics/beliefs don't agree with me. Then again, it's America, so they don't need to.

I haven't had a chance to read his newest, though. He may very well have improved his skills with age 🙂

Well, I agree with you to a point. I think often he goes too far over what seems to be occasional trivial matters. And he's very against these corporations, but fails to mention the charitable works that they also do in this country. However, like you say, I believe his hearts in the right place and there are time that he's dead on wiht his arguments. When I remember that he came out of the late 60's eraly 70s AND saw his hometown almost singlehandedly destroyed by GM, I understand his feelings about being on the side of the "working stiff". Plus, he was railing against the Taliban before many even knew what it was, which I think is cool. The film 'Downsize This' is more intertaining and interesting than the book, if that means anything. I'm just impressed that, whether I agree with him or not, here's someone in the mainstream media - who isn't a polititian per se - that makes me stop and think about things.....
