On two occasions I have gotten an email from a registered user who has never made a single post, saying that he or she (sometimes you can't tell from the screen name) enjoyed reading a story that I had posted. They didn't even post a response to the story itself in its own thread, but just sent a private email.

I have no problem with that--it is part of the reason that I post stories, so that people will enjoy reading them.

So just enjoy what you like--reading, posting, the chat room, or all three.

Hmmm....a member for over a year and 64 (as of this moment) posts to show for it. I'd hardly say that makes you one to complain. I'm not trying to be nasty in saying that. I just point it out because of your complaint.

We all wish that others would join in more...myslef mainly to hear what others have to say. But, everyone has their own lives, personalities and reasoning. If contributions were forced, rather than natural, they wouldn't likely add much anyway. We invite others to join in as they're comfortable doing so. If they don't feel ready to accept that invitation, we can't (and SHOULDN'T) judge them for it. Follow your heart and let them follow theirs.

Good point, mila. Think of how many more posts/contributions we would have if everyone responded by posting. Some people are shy, others are busy, and still others simply don't like to post. Everyone has her or his own way of contributing. Certainly there are lurkers out there, but so what? They can lurk all they want. It's us who keep this site going.

I have to admit that I was a member for about a year before I made my first post, hence my posting average being so low. I actually average between 30 and 40 a day now(my daily record being 246 in one day), but my overall average is just under 5.
