Soon we'll be past this obligatory feel-good season and can get on with our sleazy and fun real lives where we really don't give a crap about anything.

This shit happens every year and is beginning to wear on me and drag me down.

I think this season (if we allow it to) gives us the opportunity to see that we really CAN be good and caring towards others. That's not something I want to see end...though I wouldn't mind in the least if the commercialization ended. I'd rather see that joyous and giving spirit carry over into our everyday lives...all year long.

Love the Christmas season....and what the true meaning of the holiday is. But.......enough already with the inflatable Santas, Snowmen, Reindeer and Trees! Trees!!! Inflatable TREES!!!!!
Why would someone want their house to look like the Macy's Day parade?

I'll second it, to an extent. This season has become for many (Not all, see above me) a way to make themselves feel that they are good, that by buying gifts for each other and pretending to feel the spirit of togetherness and goodwill towards men, that they are somehow uplifted. All power to them for pulling the woll over their own eyes, but it is still a fallacy. While we preach peace on earth and goodwill towards men, gangs go on killing each other, we go on fighting wars, and continue to rape, steal from, and generally abuse our fellow man to the best of our abilities. Christmas is just a way for most people to forget, just for a little while, how bad this world has become, and to try to convince themselves that they have virtue.

Of course, there are those who truely do understand the spirit of the season, like our own Duo up there, but they are too few, and too far between.
