Fans of the series unite! 😀😀😀

Just finished Snake Eater this evening and finished blubbing at the ending, with the horse coming in and nuzzling The Boss's corpse. For someone who'd kicked Snake's arse on no fewer than 4 or 5 occasions she was a strangely easy person to kill.

It's also sad to think this heroic figure we've ecome to know and love for his principles will undergo a Vader-ish transformation and turn into a maniacal despot who gets flambayed in ignited hairspray by his own son. *sighs*

What did y'all think of the game then?

I liked it a lot but I felt some of the technical aspects of it were dated, like the stationary camera. I read that they're doing an updated version with a fully 3D camera, and I'm planning to give it another try then.

Now that I think about it, I had a problem with the bosses too. I played it through on hard because I don't like having radar tell me where the guards are, and on that level the bosses were nearly impossible. I thought the radar should have been a seperate setting from the difficulty, another aspect that I felt dated its basic design.

I actually thought the radar should have had nothing to do with the difficulty. Either he's given the capability to use one or not.

On the highest difficulty level on MGS (only unlockable after beating the game once) I got as far as Vulcan Raven in his tank and I can't beat the smegger. Can't get the hand-grenades anywhere near him in fact. On MGS 2 I got as far as the first boss, Olga. It's impossible to hit the bitch with that smegging light shining in your eyes and you can't destroy it on that level for some reason. Perhaps lights are fitted with bulletproof lenses at higher difficulty levels? 🙄 :ermm:

Not played MGS 3 on anything by Very Easy at the mo, so dunno how bad it's going to be. I imagine the battle in the pit agaist Volgin will be a total bastard at higher levels, as would the battle against Ocelot on either side of that ravine.

As I've got a Gamecube I think I'll get Twin Snakes for it. Should be an interesting take on the old original.

What I would REEEAAAALLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYY love though is for Kojima-san to bring out PS2 version of the original two games from the 80's! Snake battling Big Boss would be a huge seller I'm sure!

Twin Snakes was pretty cool. The thing I missed with that and MGS 3 was the attention to detail. If it wasnt for the 800 hours of cutscenes, MGS 2 would be arguably the greatest game of all time. Melting ice cubes, shootable fruit, all the tiny details were just perfect.

Despite the plot worthy of David Icke and the character who looked like a raving gaylord? 😀

dude... metal gear solid 4 is coming on ps3 :dogpile:

When? That's both the console and the game I'm asking about. I'm never getting the first run of a console again though. I did that, spending £400 on the PS 2 when it came out and it ruined half a dozen of my DVD's because they hadn't got certain components right.

Try and wait for the PS3. Sometimes there's an error with the first version of a system and they have to remake it, but they never recall a broken system. It was like that for the PS2 and the PSP.

all i know is i read something about ps3 being revealed at E3 this year and i read a list of titles for the console and metal gear solid 4 was on it.. im not sure about release dates or anything yet.. but ill keep u posted

Hehehe, time for the gamer elite to step in. (^_^)
The PS3.
And the MGS4 preview.
Note: this video was produced on a PS2 so it's not actually the next game. Instead it's a sort of teaser trailer. Hideo has stated that in it are many deep seeded clues as to the next game's story and gameplay.

yup! Metal Gear Solid 4 is comming!..cant wait 4 that either.

haha i knew i wasnt trippin out when i read that.. looks like a good arsenal of titles comin for the ps3... ill just sit here and wait like this :zzzzz:

That thing made me laugh longer than the "Batman & Robin" sketch from Only Fools & Horses!!! In fact I've only just climbed off the floor and have noe got hiccoughs. Snake trying to sneak up on the chair in the dark with the PNV goggles on and Raiden catching him at it was smegging hillarious! (As was Snake leaping ten feet in the air when he realised his arse was pressing against Raiden's.) Something tells us that Kojima won't be letting us forget the 99% hatred of Raiden for some time to come. That skit in MGS 3 where you have to batter this gay officer called Raidanovitch was bad enough!

Nice to see it's our familiar Snake we're dealing with in MGS 4. I thought it was going to be a sequel to MGS 3, using Big Boss again, but obviously not.

But Hideo, if you ever read these words (unlikely I know), please, please, please, puh-leeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzeeeeeeeeeeee make a PS 2 or 3 version of the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. I for one desperately want to play them.

Today I've been such a dedicated fan of the Metal Gear series (or would that more likely make me a desperate saddo?) to send this e-mail request to Konami UK...

Please can you bring out a PS2 or PS3 (well I'd be happy with any platform) version of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. MSX versions have become too rare. I find it hard to believe it wouldn't be commercially viable for you to do this, as there must be hundreds of thousands of people like myself who want these games in a modern format. I imagine it could even be done economically by including both updated versions in the same package?Even if you didn't consider it worthwhile designing brand new 3D versions of these games I would still buy both of them if you sold them on PS2 or PS3 DVD's in their old format, just as they appeared on the MSX. This approach worked hugely well for the old 8-bit versions of Final Fantasy games (they were released on the PSOne unchanged) and I'm certain it would work just as well for the first two Metal Gear games, which is after all a more popular series than Final Fantasy.

Just out of interest, who else feels the same about the first two games? Do you fancy being able to play Solid Snake's first two outings against everyone's favourite bi-pedal nuclear equipped tank?
