Well ...

Once again the Mets have broken my already fragile heart. Similar to last year the Mets had the division lead coming down the stretch. Once again the Mets lost the division lead. Once again the Mets got an incredible start on the second to the last day of the season. Once again the Marlins beat the Mets on the last day of the season. Once again the Mets go home beaten like a Vietnamese prostitute.

I can only hope the Phillies get swept in the first round like last year. Otherwise, I couldn't give a shit less what happens.

I was rooting for the Mets in the hopes of seeing the Dodgers play in the NLCS at Shea Stadium as they did in 1988. It was not to be.

Nuke, I was criticized on here last year for posting what some Mets fans called a "gloating poll", asking if the Mets would make the playoffs. My poll this year really was posted as a question, as I honestly thought the Mets would pull through. This year, I come in peace with my posts.

Being an Atlanta Braves fan, I feel your pain, and not because of this years abysmal 90 loss season by the Braves. As you well know, thirteen times out of fourteen straight playoff appearances from 1991 to 2005, the Braves season ended in disappointment, with 1995 the only ultimate triumph for us. I literally cried in 1991, from frustration, and heartbreak, after the Braves had made it so far, only to lose on the 10th inning fly ball in Game Seven in Minnesota, and let's not even talk about
1996. The Braves had it, in the bag, they beat the Yankees badly in the first two games in New York, and then blow a 6-0 lead in Game Four, on Leyritzs homer, one of the worst moments in Braves history. When the Yankees won Game Six and the 96 WS, after being ahead two games to none, and losing three straight World Series games at home, I didnt want to talk to anyone.

I, for one, think that the Mets suffered from at this end of this year, what the Braves did in a lot of those 1990s and 2000s meltdowns, lack of a closer. Billy Wagner's injury was devestating. Had he been healthy, the Mets probably would have won the NL East, or at least, the wild card.

2008 will no doubt hurt you, and other Mets fans, for a while, but, the Mets should have a promising season next year, a beautiful new ballpark, and a fundementally solid team, plus, a division, where, even though the Phillies won two years in a row, there is no real standout team. The Mets might well make it next year.

Take care, my friend,
Mitch

I'm very curious as to the direction of this Mets franchise.

They clearly want to win:

They spend money to win, they make trades to win, they fire/hire coaches and go on hot streaks to win.

I'm amazed they haven't gone farther the last 3/4 years.

But honestly, their only a tweak or two away and seem to have the drive to get their, which is a HUGE plus. (compared to the Royals, Padres, Pirates and Mariners of the MLB, the Mets are Supermen)

If they shore up their bullpen and land so FA's (Manny, CC, Sheets?) then they could easily make some noise next year.

And the right coach wouldn't hurt either (I think Manuel did well, considering)

I expect them to make waves and remedy their problems this offseason.

So while I can understand how heartbreaking it may be (not REALLY, but I'm trying to be nice) I say cheer up.

You're still a fan of one of the premier franchises in baseball and I doubt they'll stray from that for some time.:mhorns:

P.S. YANKEES SUCK!:jester:

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Omar better wake up & get them a BULLPEN, cuz if they had one this year they woulda won the division by 10 games!!!!!!
