Did any forum members happen to catch the mini series "The Kennedys" over the past week on Reelz Channel? The finale was tonight.. and.. if I may say.. I thought it was a very well done series.

In addition to delving fairly deeply into the Kennedys' personal and political lives, the acting, in my opinion, was incredible.

Greg Kinnear did a wonderful job as John F Kennedy. His voice, mannerisms, and portrayal of President Kennedy were excellent. Barry Pepper, who gained fame as Roger Maris, in the baseball biopic, "61", was superb as Robert Kennedy. Katie Holmes gave a wonderful, and surprisingly good, portrayal of Jacqueline Kennedy. There were other good roles as well., Diana Hardcastle, and her real life husband, Tom Wilkerson, were wonderful as Rose and Joe Kennedy Sr, and even Kristin Booth as Ethel Kennedy, and the acting by the people who played Lyndon Johnson, J Edgar Hoover, and Marilyn Monroe, were very well done.

Did any other forum members happen to catch this series? Thoughts on the series, and the acting?

I caught bits and pieces of it; I hope they rerun it so I can see it all.

I've always liked Greg Kinnear; I think he's grossly underrated as an actor. Katie Holmes did surprise me because I can't stand her as an actress. She normally plays those needy neurotic types, but did well as Jacqueline Kennedy. I just couldn't figure out that accent she was using, but otherwise pretty decent stuff.

Kis, I agree with you. Kinnear is an excellent actor. I also agree about being very surprised by Katie Holmes. I used to watch her on Dawson's Creek, but besides that, I'm really not a fan of hers.

Hopefully they will re run it so you can see it. I thought it was a very worthwhile series.

Yes, nv. I would recommend you watch it. I thought it was very well done.

I gather the show was axed by the discovery channel (who commisioned it) in the US, because it wasnt sufficiently "kiss ass" about the Kennedy clan.

It pales in comparison to the royal arse kissing going on right now over the "Royal Wedding." Just when you think it can't get any more nauseating, here's the newsflash about Kate Middleton's hat.

Ugh!

Are you comparing a Democrat President of the USA to the UK Royal Familly? WQhy would you do that?

What was the US prior to the Revolutionary War? And, what is the US and UK afterwards? Same thing, but we call our royalty, Hollywood.

I am very perplexed by US interest in the UK Royal family, I thought you all celebrate the day you got rid of them.

I dont see any comparison between a democratically elected President and a Monarchy.
