Hey everyone, just wanted to get your guys take on the memorial. I only saw a little since I was working at the time. Just watching some recap on the news, seems like there was a lot of ups and downs. Jennifer Hudson sang Michael's "Will You Be There". And friends and family sang " We are the World". Here are a few clips. RIP Michael

Ill be glad when its finally all over.

I hear you, the memorial was nice, but the way the media and everything the has transpired since then is just crazy, conspiracies, drugs, racial stuff, it's crazy.

Ill be glad when its finally all over.

It's over today; the memorial service was over about an hour ago. They're having a candlelight vigil at the Rock Hall this evening and a special MJ display.

I thought the service was very subdued; lots of music and memories with some tears. Good overall to me.

But who was that kid from "Britain's got talent?" That kid can really sing!

But the killer was at the end when MJ's child tried to speak; I don't think there was a dry eye in the place afterwards.

The man touched a lot of peoples lives with his music.Do i think the coverage has been over blown?Yeah,i do.But if the internet and all the 24/7 news channels had been around when John Lennon was killed it would have been no different i think.

Despite his wealth and fame he must have been a tormented man who struggled with personal demons for many years.Perhaps he will now find the peace that eluded him in life.

I know. I nearly lost it when Paris said that she loved her dad so much. It reminded me of my grandma's funeral.

This isn't a 'hate' rant, but it's the way I feel about this..

If there was any comedy in this mess it was the guy who said "There is nothing strange about your father. What is strange is what he had to deal with."

Excuse me, but a 40+ guy sleeping with 13 year old boys IS STRANGE. What was he on?

But before you jump the gun, this rant has nothing to do with Jackson and boys. Period. So don't even go there.

My rant is this. I DO NOT in any way, shape or form feel sorry for Michael Jackson. Newsflash: the man killed himself. He took way too many drugs and lord knows what and it killed him. When was the last time you heard anything about Jackson that didn't involve painkillers being mentioned?

And NO. I don't buy all that lame excuse the media pushed him into it and drove him to it. That's BS. Truth is, he couldn't hack it. Just like his ex-wife's father. They both checked out because they couldn't deal with life and the problems of life. They took the easy route, the coward's route.

Try scraping to make ends meet when you can barely meet your mortgage payments and car insurance and car payments and put food on the table. Then you have two kids that need new clothes and school supplies. You and your wife bust your ass working overtime and don't spend enough quality time with your family. Yet I'm supposed to boo-hoo and feel sorry for a guy who made hundreds of millions of dollars and decided to check out early because he couldn't handle it?

Hey, I've got a solution. Let's take the easy route and dope up and take pills and needles to our bodies. Yeh that's the ticket. Gee, maybe our kids will think we're the greatest daddy too.

Michael and Elvis I do not and will not ever feel sorry for you. I have your albums and will always listen to and admire your musical genius. However, that does not change the fact you brought your end upon yourselves by your own doing.

I do not hate Michael or Elvis, but I do not feel sorry for them.

The two I DO feel bad for are Princess Diana and John Lennon. They were TAKEN from us not by their own choice.

OK I'm off my rant wagon. Maybe there's a lot of anger speaking right now but it's how I feel. I just don't see sympathy for anyone who takes their own lives because they feel the need to do drugs. If Michael (and Elvis) really was the great dad, they would have sought help and proper medical attention. Forget concerts, forget fame and money. Put your faith, family and friends first. I just don't get it.

You're obviously confused. This thread is about the Michael Jackson Memorial which took place today.

My post relates to that memorial and my feelings about that memorial and why it took place. You seem to be the one confused.

Those are indeed the only four people that have ever died.

Another tribute thread trashed.

Why not just make a thread of your own instead of crashing an obvious tribute thread to the man. If you don't like him, fine and dandy; have your piss-fest somewhere else!

I really don't know why people have to do stuff like this; honestly I don't.

i'm glad its over.. but the memorial was great! just loved jennifers performance and couldnt hold back the tears when his daughter tried so say a few words..

I admit, I teared up while watching Paris try to speak about her late father. It is very hard for a child to lose a parent, and even harder watching said child attempt to deal with it. :dropatear

I'm pretty sure that isn't harder.

Eh, poor choice of words. I realize what you mean after I looked at what I'd typed. Lack of sleep. Sorry. 😀 What I guess I meant is that it's hard to see someone so young go through that.

Ill admit, i normally get teary eyed with children speaking at these type of events, but the Paris thing did nothing for me for some reason.

Paris speaking was heart wrenching, really makes you forget about the music and the scandels and realize above all he was a father

To those who still feel the need to trash Michael, I feel sorry for you. Despite the fact that the entire planet is mourning Michael, you still want to trash the man. My goodness, the ENTIRE FREAKIN PLANET is mourning this man and you still wonder why?

For once in your lives, can you take a step out of the tiny box and see Michael for what he was. This is one special guy. The WHOLE WORLD MOURNING? That should tell you something. You are holding onto the negative stuff of Michael and forget the simple fact that the positives he did far outweighs whatever sensationalistic negative news. Like someone said, Michael Jackson holds the record for a pop star giving to charities ACROSS THE WORLD. He brought hope and love to an entire planet and what do some people do? Think about the negative. You don't want to see the good in someone. The negative stuff is there, we can't ignore it, but do you go to a funeral of a loved one and think of the negative stuff?

Remember, Michael was human. He felt pain just like you and me. Yes, he made a kajillion dollars, but imagine this. You spend basically 45 of your 50 years in the public spotlight. You can't have privacy. Every single move you make is scrutinzed. People rip you apart everyday, despite your positive works. You had to endure a domineering father. You had to wear a disguise just to go to the damn grocery store. You are under the microscope 24/7, 365 days a year. You have to put masks on your children to keep them out of the hounding media spotlight. So yeah, Michael didn't have to scrape together money and worry about mortgages, but unless you walk in his shoes, his problems was just as great as yours. Except you don't have the whole planet watching your every move. Would you really want to live the life he lived? Probably not. I wouldn't.

When I saw his daughter Paris give that tribute to her father, man talk about breaking down a grown man. People forget that he was a Father to some children. He was a son. He was a brother. He touched the lives of BILLIONS of people across the world. I am grateful that this planet see Michael for what he truly was. A generous human being that touched the lives of people. He has done works that isn't always publicized. When you have adults and kids in 3rd world countries thrilled to see him, you know he has touched lives.

RIP Michael. Like Al Sharpton said, Michael wasn't strange, it was strange as to why he had to deal with a lot of bullshit. If you didn't walk in Michael's shoes, shut the fuck up before you criticize him. You didn't know the man. You weren't there. Have some compassions for a change. You may have no feelings towards this man, but BILLIONS of people think otherwise.

We love you Michael....

May he rest in peace.......he will be missed by many....

It still doesn't seem real that Michael Jackson is gone from this world. I've seen bits and pieces of the memorial and it was heart wrenching watching Paris speak. No matter what anyone thinks of Michael, above all else he was a father who loved his children and whose children loved him very much. They don't care about him being a musical genius or the fact he got in trouble with the law. They loved him because he was their father.

Rest in peace, Michael. You left this world much too soon, but perhaps its for the best that you've found the peace you never had on earth.

I liked it, I watched the last hour of it because i woke up late..

i totally forgot that he had kids until I saw them at the end. Time really flies sometimes because I don't remember them getting so big lol.. and his daughter is kind of adorable (I'm still tryin to figure out where she gets that from lol).. It's nice to finally be able to see his kids without them wearing masks. But once I saw the kids and remember he did have kids I felt even worse because Prince is like 12 and Paris is 11, and the youngest is like 6 or something.. It sucks being so young and losing a parent. And so that made it seem even worse that he died. But I did like watching the memorial. After that I watched the THS: Michael Jackson.. and well I guess I got some closure. But he'll never be forgotten.

Damn primetime... You rock...

Following that amazing post, I'll just quote a friend of mine who said "Today the world has stopped for Michael Jackson..."

I liked when Jermain Jackson said something like I'm probably quoting it wrong but... "Maybe now they'll leave you alone." Talking to Michael while giving his speech at the memorial.. But apparently he was wrong bc the people on the TMF won't leave him alone.. still bashing him and talkin about his accusations of being a pedophile that were never proven... just leave Micheal alone and let the people get on with their lives. There are times when people need to stop being jerks and show compasion, and when someone dies, that's when someone dies. He's not Charles Manson, he's not the Uni Bomber, he's not the Zodiac Killer.. let him rest in peace.

Couldn't agree with you more, mtTicklemonster...
