Well, the All Star teams are decided, for the most part. A lot of snubs this year. Any thoughts?

I think that managers should not get to decide to bring players. I'm sure someone has a way of explaining the fairness of it, but I don't buy it. I don't even like the idea of fans voting, because half of them vote for people they've heard of, regardless of how well they played this year. I think it should be players, and maybe a committee of ex-players, journalists, and select fans.

Biggest snub that I'm aware of is Joey Votto from the Reds.

Also, Jason Heyward and his .251 BA got a nod, which is a little perplexing (but he is a fan favorite).

The problem is managers playing to their players egos. Joe Girardi Picking A-Rod and C.C.Sabathia to placate them. Girardi knows C.C. won`t pitch and that opens up spot for Andy Petitte

Major snubs are Matt Latos, Heath Bell , Joey Votto , Michael Young , Mike Pelfrey , Miguel Olivo , Kevin Youkilis , Jered Weaver , Justin Verlander , and Paul Konerko

You have to have it be a fan vote for the starters... It is an all-star game that is 100% fan-faire (forget the homefield advantage, players play with the same intensity as before). It is for the fans, so the fans should choose who they see play.

There will always be snubs, just look at first base in the NL for the last 8 years, there are 4-5 legit vhoices every year so there will always be someone somewhere left out.

Joey Votto was the biggest snub. However, he'll probably get more recognition by being left off the team than he would have if he were selected. Everyone is talking about him and he'll probably appear on all sorts of sports talk shows this week. He will most likely wind up on the team anyway as he is leading the NL voting for the "final" player to be voted onto the team. He could wind up being MVP of the league this year. The dude is a beast. He crushed two home runs last night and just missed a third.

Also, I'm glad Stephen Strasburg got left off the team. He only has 6 big league starts under his belt. If he lives up to the hype, he'll be on plenty of all-star teams in the future. There was no need to put him on the team this year.

Agreed on both counts. Votto is leading the league in OPS, and somehow doesn't make it on the team? Weird.

Strasburg will make enough All-Star teams in his career to make most players jealous. He can wait until he's played a full half-season. (Full half? Is that right?)
