I love using the chatroom to talk to my friends and meet new people, however I've noticed several problems with the mobile-version.
I primarily use my iPad for online activity, and so the chatroom I have to use the mobile version automatically. Here's some things that happen to me, and I'm curious how many of these things happen to others.
1) Revolving logging in / out.
This happens at random, when I'm typing, clicking between private chats, or just doing nothing at all. It logs me out, then I have to click; "sign in". This only takes a second, and I don't actually have to "log in" to the site.
Sometimes this works, and other times it doesn't let me log me be back in for hours. It just goes back to the sign-in screen. :/
2) Words being unintentionally added.
When I try to reply to someone, after I type the first word, then hit "Space", the last word of the previous message I sent is added to my new post. Heres an Example of what this looks like:
Me: Hey, how are you doing today?
User: I'm fine, you?
Me: I'mToday ok, thanks. 🙂
- Instead of just: "Im ok, thanks 🙂", it adds the word "today" for some reason. Sometimes the added word is either in front of, or before the word I actually typed. (TodayIm) or (ImToday)
- Idk if this happens to anyone else, but it's a very frequent occurrence for me. It seems to happen more in private chats, rather than in the main room, but it happens in both places.
3) Can't leave the page.
If Im in the chatroom, I can't leave the page without it logging me out.
This means I can't check out people's profiles, open a new tab, or click on any links during a conversation. It logs me out and deletes all conversations.
- Sometimes, it doesn't let me log back in either if I do this.
4) Stops working / freezes (on my end)
I'll be typing something, then I'll click "send", and whatever I typed doesn't go through. The other person can still send me messages, but I won't be able to send them anything. This forces me to refresh the page, and get logged out.
5) Stops working / freezes (on the other persons' end)
I'll be talking to someone when all of a sudden, they don't respond to me.
I'm assuming the same thing I mentioned in #4 is happening to them.
Because, several minutes will go by then all of a sudden like 5 messages will pop up (the ones they tried to send, but didn't go through).
This happens so fast, and when they all do pop up, I'm immediately logged out before I can read them.
** People tend to blame java for glitches, but I'm not so sure that's the whole reason. These glitches only seem to happen in the chatroom's mobile version. So, it may just be this version, and possibly the type of browser the person is using. (I use an iPad, and the browser is Safari.)
I'm not trying to bash the admins, because I know they do all they can and do a good job at managing the site. 🙂
- Again, I was just curious if any / all of these things have happened to anyone else. Especially #2... Sometimes I'll type so quickly that I didn't even notice the added word. I would think this should happen to others too, but so far I've never heard of anyone having that problem.
