Model Attrition Rate

This is for producers and former producers.

Any idea what percentage of models you test and/or film aren't really good enough to sell the footage of? Or at least you feel you should sell it discounted because the model just wasn't really cutting it.

This is kind of a question born out of the "Do Tickling Videos Suck" thread. Lots of talk about mediocre victims, so I thought I'd see if other producers have had the same devil of a time finding suitable models that I did when I tried it.

For myself, I had 3 that I thought were good enough (and one of those was right on the bubble), and 4 or 5 that just totally tanked the screentest (including a girl who even failed a handjob screentest), with another half dozen that just totally flaked and never showed. Including 2 that flaked a second time.

I ran out of money and drive to continue the endeavor...lol

Here's how I'd personally roll. Nobody gets paid until they pay their dues.

Quit early? Well, you get paid based on amount of time put into the project divided by the approximate time of the project at hand.

So, if after 20 minutes you send a girl home you commissioned for an hour, and promised 200 bucks, that is... 66 bucks you wasted, instead of the 200. Of course, that's 20 minutes of SCREEN TIME, which, you should know within the first 2 minutes of screen time if she's worth keeping around. At 3 bucks a minute, you don't screw around too much. But, that's if you are paying 200 bucks an hour.

What percentage? It was VERY high. Probably somewhere around 1 out of every 20 auditioned had a hope of being put into a video. That one would be ticklish enough and not be a total flake. We ended up working mostly with friends because of this exact problem.

Okay - failed a handjob screen test? You've got to tell that story now.
