ok, maybe is because I'd never undestand the real meaning of the word "model", but what's the difference between a fashion model or a fetish model?

is the porn involved at any point?

You kind of answered your own question. Fashion Modeling is more photography based on new fashions, glamour, hair, the luxury things you'll see on tv or magazines. Fetish modeling can be considered porn and can't. The photography is more along the lines of what vanilla people consider weird. IE: a model in shibari rope bondage, a model being spanked with a paddle, a model posing in latex, etc. The fetish world when it comes to modeling does have a bit more expansion than fashion. Fashion is pretty much very limited, and fetish really isn't. Anything really can be considered a fetish.

Some fetish models don't even do nudes, so no, fetish is not automatically considered porn. Nor is nudity in pictures. There it starts with hardcore, softcore, porn-art, you name it. As tortuga said, anything can be considered fetish, for examply girls walking on food fully dressed and wearing high heels or boots. I don't think anybody would call that porn!

Most models are registered on some kind of platform, like model-mayhem or even through an agency, where you can get in contact with them. There, they usually have marked the different jobs you can book them for. Some only have down portrait and fashion, some do underwear and bathing suit, others also do nudes, and some even have down hardcore, fetish, softcore.

A model who does only have fashion and beauty down will NEVER do fetish, most of the time not even nudes.

And if a model really wants to make a career out of it and not just a hobby, she usually doesn't even do nudes, because that could seriously impact on making the big money.
