A Michigan mother has been was arrested after police said she offered to let an undercover officer have sex with and take pornographic pictures of her seven year old daughter.

The woman was arrested Friday night after arriving at a Romulus, Michigan, hotel where she had agreed to meet the undercover investigator.

Wayne County Sheriff Warren Evans described the incident as "absolutely horrifying".

The woman's name isn't being released in order to protect her five children, all of whom are now in protective custody.

Police say their on-line sting began with the woman offering herself as a prostitute, but before long she was offering her daughter up for sex as well.

"She indicated very clearly that her daughter would do just about anything that the man wanted her to do," Sheriff Evans said.

The woman is now being held on five charges, including child sexually abusive behavior, distribution of child sexually abusive material, and illegal use of the Internet for child sexually abusive actions or materials.

This is absolutely horrible. I can't wrap my mind around how a parent can do that to their child! She deserves life in prison! 😡

Unfortunately,in many third world countries this is a relatively common occurance.I find it incredibly revolting that someone could do this to their own child,much less any other child. How awful!

This is a completely new one to me. I've heard of fathers doing this to their kids, but never a mother. It's enough to make one feel physically ill.

Indeed -- as long as by "low" you mean "destitute, hungry, with no marketable skills". It's quite possible that she was doing this so that her five children could have something to eat that day. Then again, maybe she didn't have any money to feed them because she spent it all on crack. I don't know, I wasn't there. But neither were you.

None of us were likely there, assuming that even matters. The facts of the matter are clear enough to render an opinion based on the article. For most, I think no level of destitution justifies such an act.

I tend to agree, for myself -- I would give my kids up for adoption before pulling something like that. Then again, I have no maternal instinct (or paternal, for that matter) and am highly unlikely to be in such a situation to begin with. There are, however, worse things that could be done to a kid (and are being done on a daily basis, right here in the States). This makes me want to push for governmental controls on fitness for childbirth.

Not much. But both murder and prolonged physical torture do happen. Trigger warning: highlight text for gory details. The murder usually happens unintentionally, such as when a talented mother puts her baby in a microwave to dry him off. The torture is usually disguised as "discipline" -- and I'm talking about full body bruises and fractured bones here, not an occasional spank on the bottom. Then there's extreme neglect, like keeping a kid in a filthy cage for a few years. When I was growing up, my main source of grief was the things children do to each other. Little did I know...

A very common custom in Thailand, for instance. Everyone agrees that this must be stopped, but no one has a clue about how to eradicate the conditions that caused this.

One thing's for certain...it's a sick world.
