Which do you think was more tiresome, the current coverage Brett Favre is getting, or all the coverage the Roger Clemens story got a few months back?

I still gotta go with Clemens.

I vote for 'Spygate'. What a crock. Yes, they stole signs, so does everybody else.

And LEAST covered story would be the city of Seattle vs. the Sonics/Clay Bennett.

I thought of Spygate, but that was really more '07, although it did resurface around the time of the Super Bowl.

Definitely Favre for me. Football fans have had to endure retirement talk about him every year for at least five years now. There were glowing tributes to him throughout the '07 season, and I tried to pay my respect even though I'm not a huge fan of his. He announces his retirement with plenty of fanfare, and then un-retires. Now the current story has dragged on and on- and it's still not over.

They were caught stealing signs twice- against Green Bay ('06) and New York last season. I'm not aware of any evidence of any other franchise having done so. Are you?

Just wait until the season starts. Every Patriot game on TV we're going to be 'reminded' of Spygate. And that's not even mentioning the never ending jokes every time the Pats win and someone cracks wise.

For the record, I'm a Steelers fan... but stealing signs---come on! All you have to do is look across the field and you can 'steal signs'. It happens in baseball ALL THE TIME. Not to mention when players change teams they can give away 'team secrets'. Pats cheated, they got caught, end of story.

But this Favre thing might surpass it... Seriously, just trade his ass to TB or NY already. Either way, can't we all just continue to watch and enjoy his ridiculous and terrible INT's without further drama?

Favre is like "The Energizer Bunny".....

his story keeps going, and going, and going.

Spygate would definitely be the story of '07, so keep in mind that that story didn't surface until October, so this thread is definitely premature.

I officially change my vote to Favre... yeah, this crap keeps going. It's getting worse than 'Spygate' and the 00 election combined. He's an fading football star! Who the F cares?!

Yeah, so he got traded to the Jets, woo f-ing hoo. This won't be the first time we've seen an over the hill player lace it up his last couple of years with a different team. Remember these guys?:

Jonny Unitas with the Chargers
OJ Simpson with the 49ers
Joe Namath with the Rams
Joe Montana with the Chiefs
Jerry Rice with the Raiders

None of these guys turned out to be a savior for their new teams, although Rice went to a Super Bowl with Oakland and Montana almost got the Chiefs there his first season with KC. The difference however is that OAK and KC were already good teams in the years before Rice and Montana got there (I believe both teams were 10-6 in the years prior to their arrival). The Jets are coming off of a 4-12 season, so the chance of Favre being able to take the Jets any further than maybe a first round playoff exit are probably pretty slim.

Indeed. Its become a joke that has worn out its welcome.

Brett Farve beyond a shadow of a doubt.

First of all, ESPN treats it like Farve had been retired for years calling it a "comeback", Excuse me? Comeback? from what? he took the off season off its not like he missed time or anything.

Second, do we really need a ticker devoted to every single scrap of info that comes down about Farve, I mean I love the guy but come on, it's just Farve not Unitus coming back from the grave.

I totally agree about the ticker. When you look at the bottom and see "AL...NL....NFL....Favre", you know it's being overcovered. They did the same thing with Clemens a few months back.

There was barely a mention of the Dolphins signing Chad Pennington. It'll be funny if Pennington goes on to have a great season with the Fish and Favre has a crap season like he did three years ago.
