been here a while, and thought it about time i took part, so will raise a thread from time to time about whatever boring stuff enters my mind.
Recently i saw a old UK program various artists from the pop world circa 1965 to 1975
Not a bad period for music, and being an older member (not yet mad or senile) i noticed just how good tom jones was, we have all seen him in recent times (the voice prog in the UK) i think there is a US version.
What a difference a life time ago i guess, but the sparkle in his eye, the mischief, no wonder the ladies used to throw their panties on the stage they throw beer glasses when i get up to sing in the local pub.
I would advise any young ladies go to the archives and see this guy as a youngster and i bet you will be impressed, he is good for a 70 plus guy, today, was superb years ago, but was never a threat to King ELVIS back in the day, but in the same elite group of stars, and they did meet, and get on apparently.
Some years ago he did a duet with Linda Carter both wearing formal dinner evening clothes and it was a real smooth and charming performance.
Always get her mixed up with Christine Carter (the glam model but don't tell em)
The recent death of Phil Everly sent me to the archives looking at Carl Perkins and the other greats from way back.
Mostly before my time but the old country/soul/rock music from the south takes a lot of beating and is the basis of some of the best music of all time.
I like a lot of the song writers/ performers, Elton John being a favorite and more my style and era i guess.
Not a expert on this so don't go mad and tear it apart if some of it is incorrect.
