My Fears about NEST

Thank you for posting this, I know a lot of first timers feel this way :twohugs:

As you may know, I run NEST Newbians and corral all the first year attendees :fish: One thing I've learned is that nearly all Newbians have a vision of NEST that's waayyy more intense than the actual event, and that's what creates the apprehension and hyperventilating on planes and buses and in cars on the way to Philly. Then you get there, and after a few hours of hanging out all mellow and relaxed and talking about everything from Aqua Teen Hunger Force to what nail polish actually doesn't chip to which state has the best pizza you realize you're ok and people like you and you're having a good time . And the weekend goes on. I swear I'm not oversimplifying, that's what happens time and again :serenity: So know that you're 100% normal to feel the way you do, bring a paper bag to breathe into before you get there, and prepare to have an awesome time

I agree with what Bella said. She has a lot of good insights on things. When I attended my first NEST, I was excited but nervous too. However, later on I met a lot of great people and had a great time. Look forward to meeting you and I'll am telling you not to worry. I am sure you'll be fine. Good luck with your first NEST!

While I have not so far as of yet have not gone to a NEST yet and sadly so far have not had the honor and not had the privilege, I have to say I look forward to hopefully next year bear and me being able to attend NEST and look forward to it. Try not to be too scared or afraid Miss Serendipity-just be yourself and from what I have seen from your threads and posts, don't think you are going to have anything to worry about. You seem like a very kind and a very sweet caring person and very friendly. Try your best to shake these fears and just go and do your best to have a good time. Just be yourself hugs to you and hope you have a blast at NEST.

chey,
i echo your concerns exactly, to the T!! i completely know how you feel. don't feel bad and whatever you do, don't worry. you're definitely not alone! 🙂

hey chica dont worry there is gonna be enough of us newbies there to even out the nervousness

ive talked on this site quite a while and i can probably count on one hand how many members have ever judged me.
Theyll all be the same folks you talk to every night, just closer and harder to understand (everyone will have accents im sure)

have fun and if u need it ill draw everyone's judgment and focus by doing something ridiculous 😀

Please try not to worry. NEST will be a lot of fun.

The way I look at things, people are either going to like you, or not. All you can really do as a person is be yourself and let everyone else make up their own minds. I realize that that probably doesn't offer a lot of comfort, but also remember, at NEST, you are going to be amongst friends. Personally, I've never NOT felt welcome there.

Must be brave grasshopper.
