Well, for a first try its pretty good. Although there still isn't a full transition taking place. Most of the elements that make up the picture are just the way your other pictures look. In fact, I wouldn't have called this an anime picture if you hadn't said anything.

But again, it still good for a first try. I hope you can go full circle with it.

😀 Any suggestions? I think I am aware of the huge eyes, small nose and small mouth on a round head with a pointy chin. What am I missing? 😀

Well, he answered his own questions. If he knows the difference, even if those are general elements of what make up an anime character, then he already has something to work towards.

The only other things I could suggest are for him to just keep working more on his proportions and try to draw different expressions. If hes going to try and go totally anime with some of his pictures, then hes going to need to learn how to not draw the way hes used to drawing. But, he has what it takes, so I know he can do it with some effort. Anime/manga style is easier than the professionals make it seem.

That's probably your most well-drawn pic to date, but it isn't really anime, don't mind me saying. Usually, anime is very distinguishable by the face, as you know. If you want some help, you can use this guide. It's the only one I know, but give it a shot...

I've shown you this already. Julie Dillon's tutorial is fantastic. I used when I was developing my art when I was starting out here and it's helped me no ends. Hope it helps.
