Ok b-ball fans, are you ready for the rest of the NBA season? It is shaping up to be a good one. Here's a few thoughts so far....

Lakers: Ah yes, the team many of you said will never see the light of day again as long as Kobe is on the team. Gee, they have the best record so far and are the favorites to make the NBA Finals representing the West. As long as this team can stay reasonably healthy, they are the team to beat. Lord help everyone when Andrew Bynum comes back and plays well.

Spurs: The one team that could derail the Lakers. They may be old and creaky, but they have experience and they are not afraid of the Lakers. But this is generally the same Spurs team, so they show nothing new. A playoff series with Lakers/Spurs will be colossal.

Rockets: A very dangerous team when healthy. But that is their question mark. Can they stay healthy?

Celtics: The team to beat. Until they lose, they are the team to beat. But, their act is old. The Celtics use their intimidation on opponents. But, if you stand up to them, they are just a regular good team. Their bench is crappy and playing the Eastern Conference top teams won't help. If they do not reach the Finals, their decline will begin.

Cavs: This team is on the cusp of greatness. But they are still a Lebron James only team. Can the other guys on that team step up under the pressure in the playoffs? A team like Boston can defend Lebron, can the others step up? We shall see...

Magic: This team is also on the cusp for greatness, but with the injury to Jameer Nelson, they won't be this year. Although Dwight Howard is a BEAST. My goodness, that guy is simply a freak of nature...

Any other opinions?

Oh yeah, wasn't it great to see Kobe and Shaq at the All-Star game. Too funny...

Well, the Suns might have something going now that they're back to the 7 Second Shot Clock under their new coach. I wouldn't put them in the Finals, but I think they're back in the playoff picture.

I think it comes down to Lakers / Spurs / Celtics / Cavs. I don't think anyone else comes close to these four.

I just heard that T Mac is out for the season.....bye bye rockets..

the only thing that worries me about Bynum is if he will have time to get back into the groove he was in when he got hurt. He was playing great when he went down, and it takes him a while to amp up to top form. But he will be good for some rebounds and blocks no matter what.

I think the laker sweeps of the east top teams were important from a mental standpoint, so I think a lakers celtics series will be more competitive of it happens this time. If Odom played like he played in cleveland and trevor ariza becomes the laker "X" factor, watch out.....the lakers beat the cavs in cleveland with Bynum out AND kobe out most of the game with the flu.

The finals will be the Cavs and Lakers and the Lakers will win in 6

Once again, watch out for the Blazers. They can beat any team at any time and once they can get Greg Oden in a groove, they will be the team to beat in the west. Brandon is playing spectacular and the young guns are improving weekly. Exciting times back in "Rip City!"

We play @ Houston tonight. Should be an interesting game, but we should win.

peace out,
daddy
