Looks like the NBA Finals will be very competitive this year. Thank goodness the Cavs are not going because the Lakers would have won in a sweep. The NBA wants a good hard interesting series and the Magic will give the Lakers a very hard matchup. Oh yeah, Lebron vs Kobe would have been fun, but Lebron wouldn't have won a game. Why? Because the Cavs have ONLY King James. The rest of those stiffs would have crumbled under the Finals pressure. They crumbled under the Magic.

I said it before and I will say it again. Cleveland is OVERRATED. The fact that people thought the Cavs were a championship contender was blinded by Lebron's marketing machine. Granted, Lebron is a TRUE MVP. You take him away from the Cavs and those stiffs fail to make the playoffs in the East! They would challenge the Clippers for worst franchise. Lebron is a freak of nature, but he CAN'T make those stiffs better. Honestly, Mo Williams, Delonte West, Anderson Varejeo, Big Z are STIFFS. Name one, just ONE guy who strikes fear in opponents besides Lebron? Exactly....

All this crap about making teammates better. Lebron looked like the stereotype of Kobe Bryant. A one man show. I hope people realize that Lebron will leave Cleveland and their "dream season" was one big fluke. All that "dominance" over Detroit and Atlanta? Detroit quit playing since last Christmas and Atlanta was just happy to be in the 2nd round. Even if Boston beat Orlando and faced Cleveland, Cleveland STILL loses. They are overrated....

Now, the big boys get to play. Man, I fear Orlando. These guys are good. But keep in mind that we may finally see the "real" Lakers. They have been waiting for this moment since Doc Rivers got dunked with Kool-Aid in game 6 of the Finals last year. That's why it seemed like they didn't care about the Western Conference playoffs. They wanted to play the Finals since last summer. Now, they have their chance. Kobe vs Superman. Both teams provide nightmare matchups for each other.

One one hand, the Lakers will have a hard time defending the 3 point loving shooters of the Magic. Plus, Lewis, Turkoglu and Pietrus can also drive the lane and shoot the 3-ball with no conscious. The Lakers do not have the athletes to matchup with these guys.

Orlando will have a hard time dealing with the frontcourt of the Lakers. Andrew Bynum will have his hands full with Howard and Howard will dominate that matchup, but the Magic have no one that can defend Gasol. If the Lakers decide to attack the paint, they have a huge advantage. Plus Kobe Bryant is a nightmare for anyone on the Magic to defend. This is going to be a great series.

Lakers in 6.

I'd agree. Orlando is the big surprise this season. The Lakers have quite a legacy, but that didn't help them against the Celtics last year.

The Lakers are undoubtedly more balanced than Cleveland, but the question is whether or not they are more balanced than Orlando.

I really thought that Cleveland was going to make it, based upon how they played up until the Magic series.

I'll say: Lakers in six. Kobe and Phil have lost the last two times they've been to the Finals, in 2004 and 2008, so they will be hungry to win. Also, the Lakers have a lot of experience with this. Orlando is a good, young team, but, with home court advantage, and Kobe and Phil having been here so many times, I just think the Lakers will prevail.

Mitch

Good predictions. I am a Laker fan no doubt, but Orlando scares the bejeezers out of me. They are good. But I do know this. If guys (Bynum & Odom) "show up", the Lakers will win. Kobe will be ready. Phil will be ready. Gasol will be ready. If Odom plays like he is supposed to and Bynum makes some kind of impact, the Lakers should be able to beat the Magic. If they don't show up, Orlando wins. It really is that simple.

Question: The only team that can beat the Lakers?

Answer: The Lakers....

Congratulations to Orlando Magic; they played well and they were the bigger fight in the dog.

Too bad the Cavs couldn't seal the deal but it's mostly because one man does not make a team. If I were the GM, I'd review the tapes, clean up the dead weight, hope LeBron re-signs and build a real supporting team around him.

Good luck to Orlando in the finals.

Prime, we all get it ; you don`t like Lebron, message received.

Put please please please , no more '' real '' Lakers talk. They have tried their best every series they`ve played. Kobe, Gasol , Fisher, and Odom have been in this league plenty long enough to realize you don`t get anything handed to you. And for you to imply they haven`t given their all to this point is not fair to them or the Lakers team

Actually, I like Lebron. He is an amazing player. What I don't like was this stupid comparison between he and Kobe. Lebron is not on Kobe's level....yet. Lebron is the 2nd best player in the league. Until Kobe retires, Lebron will not be the #1 player in the league.

What I also don't like is all this hype on Lebron as though he is this "anti-Kobe". In the sense of he is a "team" player compared to Kobe is who is a "selfish" player. BOTH guys have lead their teams marvelously, but why does Kobe get all the bad hype and Lebron the good hype? Kobe has performed in the highest of pressure situations before and has come through. Lebron hasn't. Yet, Kobe is villified constantly and everyone fawns over "King James". Lebron is an amazing player no doubt, but you do get sick and tired of the media blasting the Lakers and glorifying Cleveland when the games results were very similar.

Case in point. Lakers beat the Jazz, even though they would lose a large chunk of their 20 point lead. Lakers still win, but critics bash the Lakers about blowing leads. Cleveland has blown THREE 20+ point leads during the Orlando series and no one says squat. Yeah, as a Laker fan you do get pissed off at the media for overhyping Cleveland and bashing the Lakers.

Now, as for this "real" Lakers comment. In case you haven't been paying attention, the Lakers HAVE NOT been giving it their all during certain games in the playoffs. They HAVE NOT been giving it their all when they would lose to crappy teams such as the Charlotte Bobcats. There is a noticeable difference from when the Lakers are "paying attention" and when they are not. Hell, you even had Kobe Bryant call his team "bipolar". What do you think he means by that? Having said that, I think we will see the Lakers play full attention during these Finals. This is what they want. To finish off what they tried to do last year. But it sure won't be easy. Orlando is one hell of a team and a very resilient team on top of that.

sorry but that is a load of B.S.

they have been giving it their best, just sometimes '' their best '' isn`t good enough. Happens to all teams in every sport. If every player that hits the court isn`t giving maximum effort in the playoffs, then Dr. Buss aught to cut or trade everyone of them

I do agree with you that this has the makings of a great series

Me personally, I am thrilled for Orlando, this is the series that was second on my NBA Finals list (1. Denver vs. Orlando 2. L.A. vs. Orlando 3. Cleveland vs. Denver 4. L.A. vs. Cleveland) so thank the basketball gods that I only have to suffer through the experts putting on the knee pads for Kobe Bryant.

Now with all that said I'm going with Orlando because I still think that the Lakers are still full of them and much everyone else has said it's going to be the Lakers down fall, they think that just because they're the Lakers that teams are going to roll over for them, if Orlando didn't roll over for the mighty Lebron James, don't expect them to do it for the Lakers either.

This just might be the year that Orlando some what shocks the world and gets a championship.

I will agree that this does have the potential to be great, but what if the shots don't fall for the Magic the way they did this past round? 3 point shooting is a streaky thing in basketball and I think the Magic may cool off in the finals, if that happens, Kobe's gonna get his first ring without Mr. O' Neal. Overall I like the Lakers just because they were there last year, they have the hunger, and I don't know how Dwight Howard will adjust to being on the big stage, Lebron had the same thing happen to him 2 years ago. I say Lakers in 6.

Also can we stop with the whole 'Is Lebron gonna leave' thing? That has no bearing on anything until his free agency situation actually happens next summer. I know for a fact that the Cavs management will try its damndest to keep him in Cleveland, and I want him to stay in Cleveland, we've seen what has happened to big name players that have gone to play for any team in NYC and I fear the same may happen to Lebron, I would much rather he stay in Cleveland his whole career. That being said, you don't JUST make it to the Conference finals, and the Cavs HAVE made it to the finals with Lebron once before, so its not like its going to be impossible for them, they need an inside presence or else they will find themselves on the outside again. As good as Lebron is, the bottom line is that he can't do everything on his own.

I agree, Mitch. Kobe won't say it, but he wants to shake the perception that he cant win a title without Shaq, especially with the off season jabs Shaq shoots at Kobe about it. Kobe wont let this opportunity get away from him.

New York is clearing major cap space and would sell the Statue of Liberty to get Le Bron, and competitive L A/ New York/ Boston match ups would be a gold rush from an NBA media marketing standpoint. If New York gets Le Bron and a few more key players, they become an instant powerhouse, like the rapid basement to top tier turnaround Boston experienced when Garnett and Ray Allen joined Paul Pierce with the Celtics.

Le Bron is a big media market basketball player, and New York is salivating for him to be the face of their franchise. I wouldnt be at all suprised if the Big Apple made him an offer he couldnt refuse.

Something to watch closely....I just heard that talented center Chris Bosh probably wont re sign with the Toronto Raptors. If young Bosh and young Le Bron get together, that duo might be collectig rings for years to come, no matter where they choose to play.

I just hope the Fakers don't win the NBA Championship. I'm watching the game now and seeing all those celebrities in the stands and other parasites makes me wanna puke. It looks like they're all on cellphones talking to each other about boob jobs while wearing those Spencer and Heidi T-shirts.

Lakers are going down boys!! 😛 I honestly believe Orlando is gunna take it out. They got off to a bad start, losing the first game, but they'll hit back. They are unrivaled when it comes to landing those crucial three-pointers (Lewis in particualr). Jameer Nelson played out of his skin in game 1 and has taken over from Dwight Howard as my number one Magic player lol. I dont know much about the NBA (coming from Australia and all) but from what ive seen, i cant help thinking that if the Lakers didnt have Kobe and Gasol they wouldn't be anywhere near the finals series.

Lets hope that Superman puts his cape on and stays out of foul trouble next game unlike last night. I think I'll puke if the LA Fakers with their frosted hair, tummy tucked fans take the title. :cry1:

What the hell? Frosted hair? Tummy tuck fans? Hilarious...another out of towner bashing the "sunshine" lifestyle of the LA fans. By the way, Dwight Howard was not in foul trouble last night. He got his 3rd foul in the 4th quarter. Keep yammering, I find this amusing.

The Magic are not going to go away. I think Orlando wins game 3. If not, Lakers will sweep. If the Lakers just stay with the shooters instead of double/triple teaming Howard, they can win. Dwight Howard is NOT Shaquille Oneal where he can score 40 a night. Stay with those shooters for crying out loud!

2 down, 2 to go, then you wll see these same "frosted hair, tummy tuck" fans at a glorious parade in downtown LA.

Ugh! Please don't paint that picture for me...too late... :pukefight: I could just picture Brooke Hogan, Tom Leykis, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, and the rest of the Floss Angeles obnoxious elitists there trying to get the camera man's attention as the parade goes on. 🙄 As far as I'm concerned I'm hearby crowning the Orlando Magic MY NBA Champions just so I don't have to subject my reality to such an event. Rashard Lewis is the MVP of the series and it went 6 games. No more needs to be said. Congrats the NBA Champion Orlando Magic!!! :yayzorz:
