Now that I had a few days to recover, here are my thoughts on the NBA finals.
First, congratulations to the Boston Celtics. They deserved to be World Champions because they showed they wanted it more. I hate everything about the Celtics, which includes their players, coaches, fans, ownership, city, anything affiliated with the Boston Celtics franchise. Hell, I hated watching their home games because all of that damn green hurts my eyes. If it was money, it would be different, but since it was the Celtics, I wanted to puke.
I hope everyone does realize Paul Pierce was never hurt. He tweaked his knee, but nothing serious. He did in fact play a hell of a series and outplayed Kobe Bryant.
The one thing about the Celtics was they played hard in every series. No matter what happened to them, they managed to outwork the Lakers. That's why they deserved to win this series. They were indeed the better team. Hate them. Will never like them. But I respect the fact that they were the better team and deserved to win.
As for the Lakers. You just woke a new giant. True Laker fans knew we were going to need Andrew Bynum to win a title. Hell, we were surprised we made the Finals this year. I had the Lakers at conference finals at best. They were still two wins from a title. The thing that hurt them against Boston was front court play. Gasol is not a center. He was our "bandaid" center until Bynum got back. He was not meant to "bang" in the post. Now, with Bynum coming back next year, the Lakers will have their true center (Bynum), a very good power forward (Gasol), a forward at his natural spot (Odom), a veteran point guard (Fisher) and the BEST player in the game (Kobe). The team is YOUNG and got a lot of experience from this playoff run. You could very well be looking at a dynasty.
The Lakers bench is very good, but need to get better. I think the Lakers need to get a "wily old veteran" to come off the bench to help the front court. Look at Boston. They had James Posey and PJ Brown come into the game and never lost a beat. If the Lakers can get that, they will be fine. They also need to play better defense and be a little more physical. The West will still be a great conference, but I think the Lakers are poised to rule.
The Celtics won, so now evil has returned to the throne. Beware Boston, the Lakers are going to be the ones to knock you off your perch. Or someone from the Western Conference...
