It's funny, I am now hearing San Antonio Spurs coach, Gregg Popovich, complain and whine about the Pau Gasol trade from Memphis to the Lakers. He says that there should be a trade committee that would negate silly trades. He still can't believe the Lakers got Gasol.

Here's my response. Shut the hell up and deal with it. No one said a freakin word when the Celtcis got Garnett for peanuts. Think about it, what did Mineesota REALLY get for Garnett? NOTHING. NOTHING AT ALL. The Lakers drop their dead weight (Kwame Brown), a promising young point guard (Javaris Crittendon) and two first round draft picks, and people are crying that the Lakers got Gasol.

You know why people are crying don't you? It's because the Lakers are now truly a title contender. With Gasol, Bynum (when he returns from injury), and Odom, the Lakers have a premier front court. You still have Derek Fisher at point guard who knows a thing or two about clutch shots. And of course, you still have the best basketball player currently in the NBA with Kobe Bryant. The bench is good with guys like Jordan Farmar, Ronny Turiaf, Luke Walton, Trevor Ariza, even Sasha Vujacic (sp) and Vladimir Radmonivich. Now the Lakers can compete with the Spurs, Suns, and Mavericks. It is on and crackin'.

This NBA season is going to be fun. Watch out Popovich, the Lakers are coming.....

The Suns are going all the way anyway.

A week ago, yep. Not anymore. I'm not even down on them for getting Shaq. It was the getting rid of Marion that was their ultimate concession. Sucks for them. I don't see their logic, but they're awfully proud of themselves.

I think that the Lakers have a legitimate shot to win it all. They are currently five and two on their killer nine game road trip. Trips as long as that aren't often seen in the NBA.

Maybe Old Popp is worried he'll lose his tie to the Lakers for championships in the 21st century. Both teams have three each, with the Lakers 2000-2002 run, and the Spurs of 2003, 2005, and last year.

The Western Conference has some incredibly good teams. We might well be looking at a Spurs-Lakers Western Conference Finals. If both teams players are all healthy, with Popp and Phil coaching, we might have a classic seven game series, whoever comes out on top.

I don't get the Suns move.....Shaq is clearly on the decline...

Waiting for Shaq to get down the court with a fast break team like the Suns is goint to be strange.......its like dropping a tractor diesel engine in a corvette.

If they were going to trade Marion (insane in it's own right -- but if he wanted out, they had to trade him and get something before he signed somewhere as a free agent), they'd have been better off getting a young center, or maybe Miami's 1st round draft pick for 2008...since it'll be a lottery pick.

Who knows.

I think the Suns know what they are doing, and the Diesel will prove everyone wrong once again.

The Suns move is a desperate one. Oh yeah, it was fun and good when the Lakers were starting Kwame Brown, but now that they had a legitimate front court, not to mention the Jazz, Spurs and others also have good frontcourts, Steve Kerr realizes the Suns can't win in the playoffs with their European style offense. They are saying all the right things, but let's get real.

Shaq is old. Shaq is hurt. Shaq is out of shape (where have we heard this before..), and declining rapidly. Oh yeah, he will look good early, but then we go back to the "I'm getting ready for the playoffs, so I will not put a lot of effort into the regular season" attitude and fizzle out.

Ticklefiend, you write that Shaq will prove everyone one wrong once again. Here's my question to you. If Shaq was truly the "Most dominant", why does he have to prove anything? Why is he now getting traded team to team? When he went from Orlando to LA, at least he was a free agent in his prime. Now, both the Lakers and Heat traded him. Why can't he stick with a team? Why are the SAME reasons for letting him go popping up in Miami like it did in LA?

The Suns will be good and a threat in the playoffs, but losing Marion will hurt them in the long run. This is the Suns LAST chance to win a ring. If they do not win it this year, they never will. Sacramento was the same way back in the early 2000s. Fun-n-gun offenses do not win championships. Not since "Showtime" has any fast break team won a title. Phoenix has no idea on how to play half court offense. Their personnel is for a high paced game. You think Shaq is going to set pick-n-rolls? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Only if you put a Krispy Kreme out there.....Getting Shaq spells doom.....I love it....
