Need some help from anyone that is available

Ok, i know that i've posted it somewhere in many other posts, but "repetita juvant" (to repeat is good, this is how it should be in English i think) 😀

- We need the Names and the "character backgrounds" (not the graphic one lol); so i think the best solution is a poll, where i will put various names and you'll choose (or you will propose the one that you like) the one that you like.

For the backgrounds we will do a little game:I will start with basic info and every person will add something!
Remember the game where a person say something and the other repeat what the first said adding something? Example:

Mary
Mary is a girl
mary is a girl that live in london
mary is a girl that live in london and she like to play piano

Is clear? 🙂 is funny, and in this way each person will partecipate (i hope adding more than one simple sentence LOL 😀) without feel that "all is on his shoulder" 😀

- Then we need the voices (we have only Nessonite for now), i'll post a thread in the regular forum to search for girls that want to partecipate (i hope that Nessie is not alone inside the game forum...right? 🙂 )

- I was expecting tro see a lot of LOG.bpx files, but for now the only on that sent the file was HDS....cmon! try a little bit the "input mode" and post the files in the sticky post that i've created; in this way you'll help me with the girls answer and the IA in general!

- The music..... someone listen the music inside the game? wich one you like? I know that i'm not a perfect and amazing musician but some feedback would be appreciated LOL and if you have music midi or waw or mp3 that you want in the game....POST THEM! LOOOOOL



- In the end....we need help with the graphic interface and the icons!
Everyone that is able to modify/create icons and little images (for the mouse pointer in the interactive part of the game) and aslo have a little sense of artistic interfaces (somkething "normal"...nothing too extreme lol), because i want to improve the interface....the one tha twe have now is not so "friendly" LOL

I hope to see the visit counter on this thread above 30, and i hope to see 2 or 3 pages of posts LOL

Go for it! It costs like $30 to register a business. May be different on Colorado where you are but in NJ that's about what it is. That secures your name but you have to first check that nobody else has used that name already. When I did this I had to look my name up in books but Im sure it's computerized now. 🙂

Maybe you did it when you opened your site right? in this case you've registered the domain - www.something.com/org/gov/biz... - , bu all the material that is on the site is not copyrighted 🙁 in facts the law said that the publisher (you) had the copyright in the moment that he put this "work" on a media (web server, paper, cd/dvd, audio tape, video tape or any other electronic format), but this copyright is not very useful, because in case that someone steal your stuff, you should demonstrate that you did this work before him, or that you had it before that him put the work on a media.....and i think that is hard to prove it >_<


The solution is to subscribe the "work" to the copyright office; and the first step is to put your works on a cd/dvd or another "media" ; put it into a bag, envelope or a package with the date when you did it (depends of what is your "work"), a declaration of what is your work and a declaration of a lawyer that you did it in his presence with his sign; then you must close it in a way that if it's opened you can see it very clearly, and send it to yourself via mail, courier or anything that release a receipt with your data and the date of shipping.
Then when you receive this package you must go to the lawyer and ask for a "verification of the integrity" of the package/envelope/bag; this is necessary to confirm that the envelope is closed and is not alterated since when you put your "work" inside it.

This is the most "economical" way to pu the copyright (the lawyers costs a lot of money), but if your "work" is something that deserve it is a good thing to do it!

Now i'm looking around to find other methods, but the copyright.gov site won't work 🙁

The American laws are more easy instead of the European ones 😀

The process here is easy, but the problem is that you can't copyright a name 🙁 you need to put a trademark on it, and is 700$ !!! (350$ for the application and 350$ after ), too much for one game LOL

So the "Digital Laugh soft" il be a simple TM withouth the (R) because only the registered trademark can have the (R) >_<

I suggest to all the artists anyway to put the copyright on their works (even the one that are in the game; i'll put the copyrights in the splash screen of all the future verisons, in this way you'll be protected 😀

I can't find any protection for the code until i'll register the trademark; because the copyright laws have restrictions (that's why is so cheap here in USA):

Extract from "circular 61" of the united states copyright office:
"Copyright protection extends to all of the copyrightable expression emboddied in the computer program. Copyright protection is not available for ideas, program logic, alforithms, sstems, methods, concepts or layout"

In few words...what it protects? LOL 😀
The trademark is different, because anything can be copied, duplicated or ispired to somethig produced by a trademark company or entity ( a good example is windows....few years ago "Mr windows" did a war against a linux distribution called "lindows OS" ; it wasa linux system with a program like "virtual pc" for apple macintosh, that let you to use windows programs, and the interface was inspired to windows...that was enough to ring the bell in the attorney's houses of "Mr windows". That's why someone has registered trademarks on "windows", "microsoft", and other things like this 😀

See the difference? if windows was simply copyrighted anyone can make a copy (not physical copy..i mean "the same program with another name"...a clone), call it "Doors", and sell it as the new operating system ^_^ because the copright on the computer programs don't protect "ideas, program logic, algorytms, systems, methods,concepts or layout"

If I were you I'd just hire a lawyer to tell me what I had to do. I dont have the patience to sit and learn all the ins and outs of copyright, trademark, etc. 😛
When all is done how about you tell us what sort of works you wanted to put in the "gallery" or "concept art" area and we will append a copyright and a signature to them. 🙂
