Sorry Guys, but the Spurs will win the series in 6 or 7. The Nets really don't have an answer for Duncan. Martin is a fine player but he is undersized. The real question is whether they will employ a gimmick/zone defense to try to control him. It was pretty effective against the Spurs in both the Phoenix and Dallas series, but it only worked in small spurts when Spurs' perimeter players couldn't knock down shots. When the Lakers played them straight-up man-to-man, Duncan tortured the Lakers in game 6.

The Spurs are the best defensive team in the league and play great team defense and do a good job in trasition defense too. Kidd will be effective, as usual, but the Spurs will guard him with Bowen on occasion to slow him down some. The Nets will need to get a lot of production from the off-guard position. Kittles and Harris need to come up huge if the Nets are to have a chance. It is very important that they hit any open outside shot that they get. They won't get very many uncontested shots, and the two 7 footers make getting to the rim very difficult.

The Spurs are 26th out of 29th in the NBA in team free throw percentage and can be a streaky outside shooting team. They also force a lot of interior passes which makes them prone to turnovers. These weaknesses have cost them 1 to 2 games per series in the playoffs so far. It probably will be what hurts them in this series at times.

The Spurs fought a tougher road to get to the finals, and are relatively healthy. All in all though, the Spurs are bigger, deeper, and as quick as the Nets. That's why the Spurs will be 2003 NBA Champions.

i want the Nets to win, but i think San Antonio will pull it out. i want the Nets because Byron Scott is a Laker. in fact, i believe he will be the next Laker coach after Phil retires. the Nets, unlike last year have a legitimate shot. why? they are playing the best basketball, even if they are playing in the East. there is no Shaquille O'neal and Kobe Bryant to worry about. Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson and Kenyon Martin are beasts. they have the desire, they have the will, but will it be enough?

as for the Spurs. yeah, they eliminated my Lakers, but they arent as good as the media makes them out to be. what's that you say? they have the best record, and they eliminated the 3 time defending champions. BUT, they have this tendency to choke. i mean, how many double digit leads did they blow in this postseason alone? they are VERY LUCKY that Horry's shot didnt fall in game 5. i mean they were thiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to losing to the Lakers. damn!!! anyway, the Spurs are a very talented team. Duncan is the premier power forward, Manu Ginobli is awesome, and they play great defense. but they lack killer instinct. they dont have it. to be great, you HAVE to put teams away. allowing teams to come back on you like that repeatedly only shows how vulnerable you truly are.

the Nets have shown that killer instinct. they will try to force the Spurs into a up and down, high flying game. the Spurs will fall into that trap and if they do, they will lose. they key matchup isnt Duncan and Martin, or Kidd and Parker, it is the "others". i think the Nets "others" are better than the Spurs "others". i think we will see the Nets drag out old man Mutombo to throw at the Spurs. this series will be good. go Nets!!!!
