Seems the new ghostbusters movie intented on "girl power" with all female cast and production is receiving major backlash from women. some say its unfunny, racist, and didn't need to push the women aspect into the movie since the original wasn't about men ghost busting better over women. Just type New ghostbusters trailer responses on youtube. if you want to different reactions.

I just think its interesting that the people they were trying to please are not pleased..hmmmm:doh:

The director's response is that its hated because of a all female cast. I think that is b/s but whatever.:boo2:

Honestly I thought the preview looked great. I am a big fan of Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon. I will definitely be seeing this inew theaters.

Kate McKinnon is amazing. So hilarious. I bet its gonna be a great movie.

I wasn't crazy about the idea of a remake at first, but I'm a huge fan of Wiig and McKinnon, so I think it'll be worth a look; and the whole "Girl Power" thing doesn't threaten me, since, you know...it's not like it takes anything away from men.

I'll go see it but I fail to see the women power idea though...its almost like they don't think women can't do anything. So they got to keep pushing it. Like when a teenager is telling everyone how grown up they are instead of just acting like it and let others judge by your actions.

Yeah, I sort of figured that was your angle. I fail to see the harm in it, and I don't really think the message is intended for you or me.

I feel like I see you post more about feminist type shit than I see actual feminists posts so maybe its you giving it too much attention or for some reason it bothers you, though not sure why

The movie did have a lot of female empowerment by employing so many women in an industry that's usually dominated by men. That's a clear fact - they intended for it to be in support of helping women advance in this field, and they succeeded at that. There are no good reasons for anyone to have a problem with that aspect of it. People who do, are acting out of something other than rationality because it shouldn't matter at all, since it doesn't involve anyone who doesn't want to be involved.

And if what you're saying is true, that had nothing to do with how the movie was received, which is how it should be. But I have a feeling that you're presenting a distorted view of it, because you're hyperfocused on this "issue," and in reality the perception of this movie as being somehow involved in the idiotic online gender wars is a figment of social media and a bunch of people crying on youtube, which is where I find I'm most likely to see a bunch of assholes yelling about feminism and SJW's every time someone suggests that women are discriminated against.

But women, like black people, Mexicans, and even some white men, are actually a multitude of individuals who each have their own unique perspective on something.

So when you say "the people they're trying to please were not pleased" you're doing something I'm not sure there's a word for - not misogynistic exactly, but like the female equivalent of racist. It would be as if you said "All black people are supposed to like Spike Lee movies."

All women weren't pleased or displeased, nor were all women in support of or against the movie because of its feminist "agenda." Every women had a different reaction and, I'm just guessing here, but most of them probably could not give less of a shit about any of this.

I just watched the newest SNL where Kate McKinnon plays a half-mermaid half- blowfish. It was amazing. I now consider Kate McKinnon a national treasure.

I agree.

I'm sure some will not like this movie. That's fine. However, many have hated this since it was announced. And the majority are MRA nerds or the "raped my childhood" people.

I guess I just don't see the big deal about it. I mean, wow, they made a movie with all female cast. Big deal. Why celebrate it like its some big accomplishment. I mean the movie "a league of their own" was a great movie to watch...directed by Penny Marshall. I didn't see her running to a podium like this is a woman accomplishment. I just thought.... Its interesting (and I'll admit it...a bit funny) is that they want women get on board with this female power and (to women's credit) they are not buying it.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, its women like this that are bringing women down. Its like a leg amputee running a race and winning. That's an accomplishment. Are these women saying that women are handicapped and incapable of doing anything therefore we should celebrate every time they do something men have done for years now. It just seems like a back handed compliment to me. I agree, I think feminists and social justice warriors.(SJWs) are a joke. but you can't deny that they are the next evolution of change if it isn't at least acknowledged. Ignoring it won't make it go away...as a matter of fact it will make it worse because most are attention *****s. This is the age of computers after all.

Well maybe I'm confused. Take women seriously....don't take them seriously. Make up your mind. If I laugh it off then I am an ass as a man or if I don't then I am part of the problem ...again as a man. I am sure most of us don't live on the TMF and do step outside our house. There are things on the outside that can or might effect our society with change and sometimes I just would like an opinion on the subject from different points of view on the forum. Deny it all you want but its happening.

As for the male/female thing. I am not much into politics but I could mention Trump?..lol. Its just one of the things that going on now in this day and age and I merely focused on it to get opinions...nothing more. No one is required to answer or have an opinion but some of us don't have that "hope it goes away or maybe someone else will fix it" attitude so I just ask an opinion.

yeah....slap to the head of that one.

You do know each woman has her own ideas, opinions, beliefs, likes, dislikes, etc and if one female acts a certain way, it's not necessarily a statement or representation for/of us all, right?

I haven't seen any celebrating of this movie nor have I noticed much talk about "female power" shit aside from those who dislike that sort of thing and knee-jerk reacted that way to the idea of Ghostbusters being remade with an all-female cast.

Of course...(.oh if men were treated the same)...lol Anyway, I digress, as I said before...I would like to hear those different opinions from time to time.

Okay, so maybe it hasn't hit outside the internet yet but nowadays this generation is all about the internet and as a concerned uncle for my younger nephew. I want make sure my generation isn't filling their heads of the younger generation with nonsense.

I mean, I spend a lot of time online and still...haven't seen this angle honestly. What nonsense are you worried about in regards to this movie lol?

Mostly youtube. But there is a movement going on from feminists trying to destroy men. they have even gotten the U.N. involved not to mention college campuses with rape culture (accusing all men of being rapists) Its just all part of it in my opinion. Just type....what feminist are up too and you'll get the whole story. As you said, I could ignore it, but when has ignoring attention-wanting women worked..lol

So..what feminist is seeking to destroy you?

Or is it the Ghostbuster women?

Why does this thread actually exist?

So..what feminist is seeking to destroy you?

Well being born a man....my guess is yes.

Or is it the Ghostbuster women?

Actually, they are destroying women in my opinion

Why does this thread actually exist?

Because it says "General Discussion". Wasn't aware it had a limit on discussions. I thought general meant just that. I had a comment I wanted an opinion. why do you post?

As a man, I find this perspective embarrassing. Everything you've said in this thread is wrong and misguided, and a misrepresentation of everything - except the "meninist" movement, which is full of guys like you who are terrified of women.

And don't say you're not terrified of women - you think they're trying to destroy you and everyone like you.

It's a conspiracy, I tells ya.

Re-booting classic movies should be a crime....doesnt matter what the reason....it is wrong...

99% of the time the original was better. 😀
But nobody forces you to buy a ticket to the remake.
