http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/arsenic-bacteria-alien-life-101202.html

Essentially, the article explains that there was a bacteria found that binds it's DNA with a backbone of Arsenic. Why does this merit making a topic, you probably ask? Simple: All other known life uses Phosphorus in that process.

The implication of this is that there exists life that doesn't require the six "crucial" elements for life (Hydrogen, Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Phosphorus, and Sulfur). Our scope for imagining life, especially that outside of the Earth, is widening. 😉

OK so this is pretty incredible. Although I think most scientists didn't doubt that life could exist outside of the big 6, it's still an awesome find.
