New Star Trek movie kicks ASS!!!

In the main Star Trek Universe Kahn was ruller of 3/4th of the world, and those other examples were all from the alternet universe, Abram is tying to push this a the "New" mainstream universe. It's simply no for me, and I won't suport it.

:objection:
Actually, it was 1/4 of the planet that Khan ruled over.

"Given the same circumstances I would do the same thing without hesitation. Because the steps I took, in the order I took them, were absolutely necessary if I were to save my ship... and nothing is more important then my ship."

I doubt anyone is asking you to at this point. You aren't going to change anyone's mind with your posturing though, and you certainly won't stifle the success of the new direction of the series. *shrug*

Um...the movie was pretty solid. Huge on those moments of "Oh shit here comes 'so and so' and lets see the beginnings of this storyline and...on and on". I only watched Star Trek when I was bored, but using time travel is something completely unnecessary in a franchise which already has the backdrop of space and all that. It's throwing conventions on top of science fiction. It doesn't advance the genre, and instead locks people in insipid arguments about nonsensical things.

Guess what? This is a reboot of a dead franchise, and because Hollywood has no real concept of how to create shiny new things, you instead get old things which carry a mythos and you slap a paint job on them. You can say this franchise didn't need this, but if the goal of the people there is to make money, then they were failing at their jobs. The franchise lacked the human elements of the original Star Wars trilogy, and has been considered a cast away for people who follow it as if it is a Abrahamic religion.

This film didn't suck. It was successful for most of the same reasons Watchmen was...in spite of a fanbase which is going to pick at every single nonsense detail which doesn't match original source material. And big budget studios? They don't make films for people who wear Trek uniforms to premieres and respond on message boards about warp drives. None of that shit matters.

Sandrock put down the time travel convention and the riled up fanbase in a very funny manner, where he showed this concept of time travel being a negative in this film to the canon of the franchise as being completely without merit. This damn franchise is littered with HORRIBLE plot holes and material which trucks could drive through.

Old Trek fans don't need to get over it. Being killjoys is what a riled up fanatical fan base does. But box office doesn't lie. And where it counts, Star Trek is raking in the cabbage.

.

This franchise was never dead, it was just napping. Like I've said before, I am not saying this is a bad Sci-fi movie, I am saying it isn't a great Trek movie. You could claim X3 or Spider Man 3 were great action movies, but compared to X2 or Spider-man 2 they were crap. Nothing in Trek has ever come close to being as good as ST:2 for the simple reasons of a) Montalban was a fantastic actor b) it is the only film that has a direct tie in to an episode of the show, and c) ven if you aren't a Trek fan and never watched Space Seed you can still enjoy the movie simply because it is a really good movie. The two films that followed were a direct result of things that happened in Wrath of Kahn, and ST:5 would have been better if Shatner hadn't gone over budget. Other then the first film I don't think there has been a Trek flick that didn't make money, and I am not surprised that this one did. In the end, Abrams came up with a great story for a film, but didn't have enough faith in himself to think he could make it work with out using characters somebody else made up. So like Roman Polanski and somebody's 13 year old daughter, he was given permission to rape Star Trek in the ass.

"Lewis, we've had presidents who were beloved who couldn't find a coherent sentence with two hands and a flash light. People don't drink the sand because they're thirsty, they drink the sand because they don't know the difference."

Enjoy your sand.

The only things I did not like was the demise of Vulcan...

...OK, I think the showing is over now, so... minor spoiler...

JJ wanted to stick to scientific fact as much as possible...

Might I point out that a star going supernova does NOT threaten the existence of the entire galaxy!!!!

Watchmen is considered a blockbuster bust. It only grossed 70 million profit over its costs, which is pitiful when you factor in how much they crammed it down peoples throats in advertising

Also if 1 drop of red matter would cause a black hole(which oddly disappears after its formed), what would a shitload of it do?

A hell of a lot more than a supernova. Presumably the stuff only creates small black holes. The smaller they are, the quicker they "evaporate"

I did like the film in spite of those two flaws. The new old Enterprise grows on you (like fungi).

I think this film was more Wars than Trek.

Oh boy....where to begin?

The Wrath of Khan is NOT the only Trek film to follow from events from an episode. Star Trek: First Contact featured the Borg as the villains and they were from several episodes of The Next Generation! Not to mention the Borg and the Borg Queen went on to be in a few episodes of Star Trek: Voyager afterwards. That's a LOT of "direct episode" stuff there.

Shatner didn't go overbudget on Star Trek 5...the studio slashed his budget while they were making the film! The film suffered for it big time. It wasn't really Shatners fault the movie sucks so bad. Read the original script if you can, you can see how he was screwed over.

All the Trek films "made money", even the first one. They all made different amounts. Some were more successful than others.

Also, I would hardly say that JJ Abrams raped anything. That's the first (and usually only) thing fanboys say when something upsets them: "(insert name) raped my childhood!" It's really time to stop using that phrase and say something new and original. Way overused.

The earliest pr0n i remember was through the scrambled spice channel in my youth. It was sex trek III: The wrath of Bob

All i recall is Uhura felt some psychic pinch on her ass which led to her and sulu going at it, and firing condom torpedoes to cap Bob's main gun

The thing that really shocks me is Sylar/Spock.
Sylar is the evil villian and has mysterious powers and can kill people instantly.
Spock is a good guy (Atleast I think so)
But I really am like, in love with Zachary Quinto, so nothing against him.

Actually its amazing how many varied actors have had a role in Trek.
