i don't know if this is 100% true of not. but it seems a reporter got a shot of pres. bush jotting down a note to pass to condaleeza rice saying something like:

I need a bathroom break?

Is this possible?

as far as i can tell this is not a joke/lie. i saw the picture, and it looked legit.

talk about a 10 year old stuck in a 50 year old's body. like that movie, Jack.

The President of the United States uses the bathroom!!!! You mean, just like any normal human being???? Oh, dear Lord....and to think I actually voted for the guy! Twice!

(Man, we should have elected Al Gore. You can tell just by looking at him that he hardly ever takes a dump.)

he's passing notes like he's in middle school, asking for permission to go? he asks permission and he's the most powerful man in the nation.

Har Har Har Har Har Har!

😀 😀 😀

...

Seriously, who cares?
Supporters of his would vote him a third time, if they only could.
Detractors think the worst, just for the sake of it.

Prez's potty break is the least of your concern, guys.

i made the mistake of voting for him the 2nd time around, i will not do it again, given the chance.

*shrugs*

Everytime I post something about USA some ill-mannered gentleman will lash back at me, accusing me of demeaning his country with my hate-ridden derogatory words.

For a while I found it offensive and unfair.
Then I realised web's full of deranged individuals - first of course being me.

Mind the things that matter, they say [read it on Camel's sig...].
Hope you'll be given that chance, for a third mistake.

Editor & Publisher online confirms that it's true: http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001137788

NEW YORK With confirmation today that an accidental photo of President Bush at the United Nations on Wednesday, writing a note to Secretary of State Condeezza Rice about a “bathroom break,” was indeed real, newspapers around the U.S. and abroad are now planning to run it widely. But many, it seems, will treat it as something more than a joke.

A source at the Washington Post tells E&P that the paper is considering it for prominent play Friday morning, in the context that, at least in some minds, it raises questions about overall perception of the U.S. at the United Nations, right or wrong. Reuters reports extremely strong interest in the photo today.

This is a link to the actual photograph at Reuters.com: http://photos.reuters.com/Pictures/...-14T201816Z_01_UNS93D_RTRIDSP_2_SUMMIT-UN.jpg

However, the photo was "enhanced," which creates some doubt about the actual wording on the note: http://www.cnsnews.com/news/viewstory.asp?Page=\Nation\archive\200509\NAT20050915c.html

This is stupid where people are taking this thing. I'm with Ignatz on this. Who cares if he has to go to the bathroom and who cares if he wrote a note in order to do so?

Obviously whatever meeting he was in was very important and as a courtesy, he wrote her the note rather than just leaving. He doesn't need her permission to go to the bathroom, even if it was worded in the form of a question. In fact, because it was, just goes to show his courtesy toward the situation.

I know that if I was in an important meeting and someone else started it and was the moderator or something, and I had to use the can that I'd write a note so as to not disturb the overall conversation and allow it to continue without me being a distraction as I leave.

Thats exactly what Bush did, I believe. He doesn't need permission, but he had enough respect for her (regardless of his own authority) to ask anyway. This isn't some some proof to be added to the ridiculing and spiteful opinion of him being child-like in his intelligence, etc. The only ones making an ass of anyone is the people who make big deals out of things like this or try to use it in some angle or to start a debate. They're the asses for being so petty over what ammounts to trivial happenings.

EDIT: What next? Sources say the grass growing on the east lawn of the white house was "mistakenly" not watered today (in the words of white house officials), not because of "faulty sprinkler heads" (so stated the officials), but as hidden symbolism of the War on Terror and Bush opponents are outraged?

EDIT: What, Bush's dog took an unexpected dump (because how dare a dog or his master go to the bathroom) and the turd was facing east says sources, and it instantly reminded Bush opponents that we haven't captured Osama?

EDIT: And lets not forget the reports that sources say that when George W. had a bowl of cereal this morning as a chance of pace, that his choice of cereal (frosted mini wheats), was deliberately him and his cabinet laughing about their ability to say one thing and mean another toward the American public, since, as we all know, mini wheats are frosty on one side and plain on the other. Surely people, his choice of cereal this morning speaks volumes about his political agenda! 😛

So...lets see what George cannot do if he wants to not be bitched and nagged:

1.) Go to the bathroom.

2.) Allow the grass of the white house lawn to be watered.

3.) Allow First Dog to take a dump that will point east.

4.) Eat Frosted Mini Wheats.

I'm sure there are others, many, many others. 😛

I mastered English when I was... mmm... 15?
Well, sort of.

I don't expect foreigners to speak my own lang, so you'll bear with me if I'll be brief and straight to the point. The shorter, the less typo-ridden, I say.

...

I don't think US's President really needs that kind of defence.
Who cares if he can't control his bladder as well as some can, anyway?

Nag him about real things - I heard US has been *flooded* with problems, as of late.

And I don't expect all foreigners to be sarcastic or to try too hard to insult me in what they feel is an innocent enough way, only you. And well, really, you're just not trying like you used to. If you're going to try, please try harder, for your sake and for my entertainment. Your half-assed efforts are annoying and boring not to mention too predictable. I want the full treatment or not at all. Give 110% or none at all, please, otherwise you're wasting both your time and mine and the time of those that watch us eagerly. Your lukewarm efforts, those same lukewarm efforts over and over again are displeasing. Turn up the juice or shut it off. Thank you. 😀

Now, on topic...

"That kind of defence". I don't believe I'm defending him. The fact is I'm saying this whole thread is stupid and so I'm mocking it. Am I so much defending the man as I am defending common sense and good judgement? I don't really think so. As this thread is not about the man but rather his ability...or inability it seems, to take a shit, I didn't see it any other way.

Hoax-busting site Snopes.com states that although the picture is authentic, they believe that the "bathroom" sentence may have been written by someone else and that Bush was responding to it: http://www.snopes.com/photos/politics/bushnote.asp

Either way, I don't think it was asking for "permission" as much as asking about the protocol of leaving such a meeting. Everyone, please play nicely.

As I said, the web is full of odd types.
Why should I spend my time on one alone?

I didn't mean to insult you. Besides, why would you care?
I'll casually add you to my personal list of "gentlemen" who routinely feel insulted by my remarks.

For some reason, I manage to piss off people I don't even personally know.
You already have the respect of some users, Vlad. It's not like calling my post a "half-assed attempt" at anything will make you look better or more suited as a leader of men [and women].

Since I posted before you, I guess I have no reason to walk away from this thread.
It's not like it's going to miss either me or you, given its facetious nature.

Give up, man.
You already have a lover. Your heart has no more room for me. 😉

It doesn't take much to lie through your teeth, especially when your teeth are hidden in silouette/are invisible underneath thine helmet. 😉 Here's not having to read between the lines- you're a hypocrite. You intentionally make things ambiguous publically to spare yourself from any possible respite, and yet, you seem to want it. You crave it, and yet you take countermeasures. And all I'm saying is to drop the act, be yourself, and try harder.

Why not become a full time troller? You'd be really good at that. You don't post much as it is, why not put that time to good use? Why else would you make such comments if not for an earnest reaction of some kind? You're either trying to play the field by teasing folks, or you're trying to prove a point by implying they're overreacting when you feel you've baited them. Either way contradicts what you're saying now. You can only pull the wool over people's eyes so many times before they put two and two together. Thank heavens I caught on early.

I'm not trying to look better about anything, thats you projecting that thought unto me. You are right about one thing though. You do bring out bad things in good people. This isn't a talent or ability any more than it is a moment of opportunity in a situation thats ripe for picking. So don't pat yourself on the back too much, its nothing special. Anyone can pick a time and place, but not everyone can dance.

I'm just asking kindly for you to try and learn the steps...or re-learn them as it were. My posts may have typos in them and may be drawn out alot of the time, but you seem to have lost your way.

And yes Val, I know, play nice. 😛

EDIT: You'll be happy to know I'm leaving now. We all need to sleep. 😛

Actually--best way not to get bitched and nagged? Don't be president.

Otherwise, it's pretty much guaranteed.

Presidents come and presidents go. You'll get what you want in 2008, Wade. Win, lose, or draw this can have only one outcome. Thats just a given. But what we as citizens do with that time is just as essential as what he does. Man cannot live by president alone.

I am a person who could claim to be stuck in a fianancial quagmire and blame Bush for it. But I don't. Not because I support him in some things he says, institutes, or does (or unfortunately fails to do), but because he doesn't control my mindset, how I live, or how I'm governed. At risk of sounding like a religious zealot, I leave my destiny in the hands of a far more capable authority and power. Maybe I'm a fool, but I don't think I am, and internally I know I'm not for believing this way.

I guess what I'm personally saying is, I'm not looking to cast blame even if it's deserved. If what he does makes my life harder until 2008 (which it hasn't done, and I'm neither rich or one that would immedietely benefit from his dealings), then I'll accept it as fact, work with it, and make the best of it, no matter my situation. Its what I've done before him, its what I'll continue to do with or without him. I am responsible for my choices and options, not so much him or anybody for that matter.

Everyone is intitled to bitch and moan though. I think it's essential in a way, even if tiresome. 🙂

Mmm... you are effectively saying "we are in the hands of God, and we're powerless before His Will".
So, what do you/we vote and strive for, exactly?

This is the kind of thought/behaviour that deeply worries people about this president and his supporters.

Me? I am not overly concerned.

Dude, I don't even know what I want. But if you know what I want, do clue me in; it would make much of my life easier!

But what we as citizens do with that time is just as essential as what he does.

No doubt. Which is why we're all potentially just as subject to accountability--and mockery, and bitching and nagging--as he. But with increased responsibility and increased visibility come increased opportunities for all those things.

Everyone is intitled to bitch and moan though.

Agreed. And it has the added benefit of being potentially entertaining.

didn't mean to cause an uproar, just wanted others to share the chuckle.

never knew it was unamerican and bad to ask for a bathroom break

I guess its polite? Instead "Hold on now a sec, i gotta go drain the whoopin crane"

I mean, I do have the permanent residence thing done and all, so i'm not a tourist anymore, 😛, but I need to take some 30 page test on the US History to be the kind of citizen who can vote....🙄 I said, No thank you! 😎

In YOUR opinion I'm effectively saying that. Thats what YOU heard. And I only said "at the risk of sounding like a religious zealot" for a number of reasons. Mostly because alot of people assume that if someone is religious and has a political viewpoint, it means they're going to swing a certain way like you were quick to suggest. While it certainly is true for alot people in the Bush camp, not everyone, including myself can fairly be thrust into the frey by some default.

I know I'm not a religious zealot, so I was being sarcastic, knowing full well that people may assume something like that simply because it could fit their agenda or side of the argument.

To use the word powerless is pretty harsh and is taking what I said completely out of context. I said, that for me, being a follower of God is more important as a source of direction and purpose than anything mere men with political agendas say and do. I'm not "powerless", I'm actually empowered. Thats how I see it. God will not faulter in anything. Humans will. God takes care of the only thing that matters to me in the end- my well being and spirituality. While I do alot of that myself, theres no question that He's of great help.

Theres no denying alot of the human condition is dependant on what our leaders proclaim and allow, I'm just saying I'm not driven or governed by that, and if it affects me somehow as a citizen, taxes, etc,, it won't do me in or change my quality of life because I have that optimistic faith and knowledge in something far more greater. That, and I'm just not the person to bitch and whine like that when every little political happening doesn't go my way or in a way I didn't expect, or whatever. I'm a fighter that way. I can make do with less and still be happy. Alot of people can and alot of people do. When we get more, thats great. When we don't, we grin and bare it, knowing that it won't always be that way. My opinions are not that fickle.

You seem like a fellow that could easily be programmed to believe any number of things. I'd be wary of recruiting officers if I were you. They may just give you a sweet deal and hitch. LOL Kidding. ^^

As for what you want, I suggested that Bush being gone in 2008 would be good for you because earlier you stated that he shouldn't be the president. So that explains why I said that.

As for the rest, theres no arguing with that.
