Starting in the 2014 NFL Season, the NFL's is going to start Penalizing Players for Slam Dunking the Ball over the Goal Post after Touchdowns.

A Celebration that had become very popular with Players Like Calving Johnson of the Detroit Lions, Jimmy Graham of the New Orleans Saints, and Future HOF Tight End Tony Gonzalez.

Me Personally, I don't have any Issue with Celebrations. Because at the End of the Day, we watch & go to Football Games to be entertained.

And I am a Big Fan of Props. I'm sorry, but I Loved it when T.O. & Chad Johnson/Ochocinco were in their Prime with the Endzone Props lol.

I mean if a Guy is Seriously Taunting another Player or the Fans, like celebrating in a way that's saying "Ha Ha, you suck" then that should be a Penalty.

But if a Guy is just celebrating by himself, and it's not Directly Targeting an Opposing Player or Opposing Fans, or if a Player is Celebrating with a Teammate or a Couple of Teammates, and the Celebration is not Directly Taunting an Opposing Player or Opposing Fans, that should be just fine. But that's just my Opinion.

I feel like it's only a Matter of time before the NFL Starts Resorting to the NCAA Rule.
Where if you do anything, and I mean Anything at all on your way to the Endzone, if you Score a Touchdown, the Touchdown will not count, and the Ball is Moved 15 Yards Back from where the Celebration began.

Sorry BB, but I'm gonna shoot the other direction here. I think celebrations are meaningless and irrelevant. I mean, what are you celebrating? For doing your job? You know, that thing you are being paid millions to do? I just find celebrations arrogant and pompous. I know it's just a video game but that's one of the things that bugs me about Madden. You can't turn celebrations off.

As far as being 'entertained'? I'm entertained by watching them do their job, not turn flips or dunk a football. I'm sure the player is excited because they just scored a touchdown. But again.. isn't that why they are being paid? Just hand the ball to the ref and leave the field. You did your job. You earned your paycheck.

Just my thoughts anyway. I'm sure lots of fans enjoy sideshows. I just prefer to see the game played.

I get what your saying about just wanted to see the game played. And like I said, I'm not in Favor of all Celebrations.

But I don't see Dunking the Football over the Goalpost as Excessive. To me that falls in the Category of Spiking the Football, but that's just my Opinion.

Like one of my Personal Favorites was, "The Fun Bunch" of the Washington Redskins back in the Day. Just Teammates Jumping in the Air and giving eachother a High Five.

And what's wrong with what the Greenbay Packers do after a Touchdown, "The Lambeau Leap".

And I don't know if you ever Played NFL 2K5, but I had it for the original XBOX. In that game you could actually pick & choose Celebrations.

You could choose from a List, up to 4 Possible Celebrations for every match you played. You could set a Specific Celebration for the "A" Button, same thing with "B", "X", & "Y".

And when you pressed one of the Buttons after a Touchdown, whichever Celebration was Selected for that button, the Player would do. I always thought that was cool. But that's just me.

I have to agree with this statement. Celebrations are meaningless. These guys are getting paid millions to play a game. It's no different if a salesman goes to work and sells a car...is that salesman going to run around doing backflips and making an ass out of himself... Probably not.

Pure and simple...it's called "self glorification"...in my opinion!!! Most of the celebrations are just a case of the player putting himself ahead of the team, so to speak. "Hey...look at what I did!!!" Isn't "chest pounding" supposed to have meant "I have heart"?? Like the old saying goes..."there's no I in TEAM!!! I always love when a player makes such a big scene...but their TEAM is getting blown out... and all the opposing player does is laugh and point to the scoreboard!!! That's my favorite type of "retaliation"!!!

Anyway...just "give the ball to the ref" and get on with the game!!!

PS: Yes...I do think the league/s are getting pretty petty with some things. But I also see it as a type of speeding up the game. But more importantly, a way of keeping the other team's tempers from flaring!!! And that's my two cents!!!

If the Panthers could sign a decent Wide Reciever I wouldn't care if had a parade in the end zone after each TD, complete with elephants, a marching band, and women doing cartwheels
