Time after time after time this policy proves its not worth the paper its written on.
This whole Shawne Merriman 'saga' proves it, both his A and B samples came back positive for a banned steroid yet he is still dictating when he will serve his bull shit 4 game sentence.
Then players like Quincy Carter, Ricky Williams and Koren Robinson for example each had extreme personal issues to deal with and took a path (I wouldn't chose or support) they were in need of much help, even Herm Edwards said this when he had Q.C at the Jets - the NFL turned their back on this troubled kid.
Each of their careers are probably over; last I heard of Quincy Carter was that he was 'trying' out for a CFL team - he was the last Cowboy QB to led them to the play offs and he had nothing on offense to help him. Ricky Williams broke his leg but before that he was averaging less then 3 yards a carry - I am pretty sure the 'Fins wont want him back and no team will take a chance on him with his record. Then most recently we have Robinson - the Seahawks and Vikings cut him then the Packers gave him a chance, the NFL then took that chance and pretty much spat in his face.
These 'humans' made mistakes, they did something that had NO affect on their on field performance yet the NFL took it away from them now we have the "new Ray Lewis poster boy for the NFL" in Shawne Merriman who is taking something to increase his performance on the field yet he is still playing and in control to when he serves his 4 game suspension - I hope he comes back as a massive flop just to prove his rookie season and the games thus far were just a drug lie.
This policy is just a joke.
