Alright now here we are in week #6 of the NFL!!! We see someone new in first place. Last year we only had first place chance hands twice the entire year. When Tickle Fiend took it from Sadira in week#6 and Sadira took it back from Fiend in week#7. We never saw anyone in first place the rest of the year. So how will this season go. You have Fiend knocking on the door to first place again. Will he knock that door down or will he settle for second and walk away. It will depend on this week's picks in the League where they play...for pay!!!

Cincinnati -3 @ Kansas City--- I wish I could go with the Chiefs here but I believe that the Bengals offense will wear down the Chiefs defense. I also think that the Chiefs offense will wear down the Chiefs defense because the Chiefs aren't a very good offensive team.

Houston +6 1/2 @ Jacksonville--- Jacksonville is 4-8 when they are the favorite over the last season and a half. I am playing that hunch that Houston will not lose by 7.

Miami +5 @ Cleveland--- How often is Cleveland the favorite? It tells you how Miami really is. Derek Anderson is also doing extremely well since taking over the starting QB role. Staying with that hot QB and taking the Browns.

Minnesota +5 1/2 @ Chicago--- The Bears might have gotten their second wind ( no pun intended ). They looked good in coming from behind in Green Bay last Sunday night. I still don't believe in Brian Griese but the Vikings are not a good road team. Taking the Bears at home.

Philadelphia -3 @ New York Jets--- Now again you know I am a Jets fan. But the Jets have NEVER beaten the Philadelphia Eagles. They are 0-7 in their history with the Eagles. I am not sure the Jets are going to bounce back from their loss to the Giants. The Eagles will win ( though I will continue to root the Jets to victory. )

St. Louis + 9 @ Baltimore--- Baltimore is 4-10 over the last season and a half when they are the favorites. That stat also includes them being 0-4 this year as a favorite. You want to win a pick here, it almost seems to be a sure thing to take the Rams and the points.

Tennessee +3 @ Tampa Bay--- I have nothing to say about this game. I think that Vince Young will struggle against a Tampa Bay defense but in the end, I think Vince Young leads the Titans to a win. Just a little extra something here is that the Titans are 7-1 in their history against the Buccaneers. That does include their history as the Houston Oilers. Bottomline, Tampa Bay has not done well against this franchise.

Washington +3 @ Green Bay--- I am going to go with the idea that Green Bay can't lose two games in a row at home. The Redskins coming off of a smashing of the Lions will have their hands full with an angry Green Bay team.

Carolina +4 @ Arizona--- The Panthers having lost their QB Jake Delhomme for the rest of the year, I am not sure who Fox has that can really lead this team to rest of the way. Though they signed 98 year old Vinny Testeverde, I think it will take more than Vinny's big arm to help the Panthers.
In the meantime, Arizona has played well at home and now the QB controversy is over with Leinart's season ending shoulder injury. Kurt Warner will be fine running this team. Arizona will win the game.

New England -4 1/2 @ Dallas--- I think the Cowboys are the better team here. They are home. It will be a good game. But the Patriots will not win by 5 or more. In fact, I really question whether they win this game at all.

Oakland +10 @ San Diego--- I have been going back and forth on this game. I like the Chargers to win the game outright. I am not so convinced on the point spread. So I can only hope they win by more than 10 points.

New Orleans +6 1/2 @ Seattle--- The Saints are going the wrong way in a hurry. So much so, I benched my starting QB Drew Brees in my FOX Fantasy League!!! This is tough to watch. I will root for the Saints, but I like the Seahawks at home against a struggling team.

Monday, October 15th,2007

New York Giants -3 @ Atlanta--- The Giants will eat Joey Harrington up. I hate to say it. The Atlanta offensive line has not blocked well for their QB and the Giants eat QB's for snacks. Give the Giants a BIG nod here for a huge win.

Those are the picks for week #6. Have a GREAT weekend everyone and enjoy the games.

Let's have another great week! 😀

You know, it's confusing to see different papers come up with different lines. Luckily my thoughts didn't change. I included who I thought would win outright simply because I didn't wish to take the time to delete that information, as I do this for my other fantasy sports league that I participate in. (I use the Star Ledger there since in that League we all went to college in New Jersey.)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Philadelphia -3 @ New York Jets - Take the points for a J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS Upset Special
Donovan McNabb still has an offensive line with problems. Brian Westbrook will ease things with a few screen passes, but I think both you & I can get to McNabb through Winston Justice & sack the Philadelphia QB. On the other side, I refuse to believe three consecutive weeks of Chad will be bad.
Cincinnati -3 @ Kansas City - Take the Points & Take the Chiefs
Somehow, I think Kansas City's talent is a bit underrated. But that won't be enough to win. Larry Johnson keeping Palmer & company on the sidelines will be. Huard makes enough plays to win.
Houston +6 1/2 @ Jacksonville - Take the points BUT take the Jaguars
I do believe the Jags are better this year. You take the points because this is a division game & Houston has nearly caught up to Jacksonville in terms of talent. You take the Jaguars because their run defense is better than the Texans' run defense.
Miami +5 @ Cleveland - Take the points, because Miami put up 19 against Houston, a better defense. Take the Dolphins, because I do believe their defense will come to the party & slow Cleveland enough to win.
Minnesota +5 1/2 @ Chicago - With both teams being terrible, this game figures to be close, so the points have to be laid. I think Chicago's defense is slightly better even when injured & this will be the key: shorter fields for that Griese fellow. Take 'da Bears.
St. Louis + 9 @ Baltimore - Those 31 points were a fluke. That's not gonna occur against Baltimore. Only the high spread scares me, but I believe the Ravens' Defense will score. Lay the points & the Rams for dead. Take the Ravens some more.
Tennessee +3 @ Tampa Bay - Both teams have good defenses. Both teams have quarterbacks who know how to win. The Buccaneers need running backs off the street, but Young looked shaky last week. You know, a healthy Buccaneers RB situation would have favored the Buccaneers. I can't see Jeff Garcia doing enough by himself to keep the Buccaneers' Defense off the field. Take the points while you Remember the Titans pulling this upset.
Washington +3 @ Green Bay - Both teams had second-half collapses (Giants & 'da Bears respectively) that prevented perfection here. Jason Campbell is holding his own for Washington & is a worthwhile fantasy pickup. The key is Redskins RB's vs. Packers Defense. The winner in this matchup determines the game. I believe the Redskins RB's win this round. Take the Points & The Redskins, even at Lambeau.
New England -4 1/2 @ Dallas - Most people in the whole world thought New England would win this game before watching Dallas @ Buffalo last Monday. The rest of the world has been brainwashed into agreeing this theory, except for one person. 'dem Cowboys showed some incredible talent & determination
in overcoming 6 turnovers & 3 TDs from the Bills DST. I believe they win this game outright. Take the points & the Cowboys in a thunderous NFC shocking statement.
Carolina +4 @ Arizona - Wow, the Cardinals are favored here? There's the magic of Kurt Warner. Pick him up if he's available, he will do well here. Lay the points & put John Fox on the hot seat. Take the Cardinals.
Oakland +10 @ San Diego - Oakland leads the AFC West at 2-2, with Denver/SD/KC all at 2-3. The Raiders keep this one close because they aren't anywhere as bad as last year. But I do think San Diego has discovered just enough offense & defense to squeak by. Take the points, but Take the Chargers.
New Orleans +6 1/2 @ Seattle - Yes, New Orleans is this bad. I have benched Reggie Bush this week for one of my teams simply because 21 carries for 67 yards against the Panthers won't do it. That
offense is awful & they could be shut out. That & I don't see New Orleans shutting out Seattle. Lay the points & the Aints for Dead. Take the Seahawks.

Monday, October 15th,2007

New York Giants -3 @ Atlanta - Atlanta has to start two new offensive tackles. The Giants are busy doing as much research as they can. There's also someone named Joey Harrington on the other side. The only way Atlanta hangs tough is with Eli Manning INTs or Brandon Jacobs fumbles. I smelled trap game before reading the Giants defensive ends in the paper. Smell blood on Sunday. Lay the points (You know Atlanta's season is dead) & Take the Giants.

I enjoyed your analysis and agreed with many things you wrote, ltm. I figured I would point out to you that you may have made a mistake picking Cincinnati, as your analysis indicates you believe K.C. will win outright.

As for the Jets, while I'm not a fan of the team, I live in NYC and wish them well. In that sense, I hope your pick is correct, although I went with Philly. I believe Philly is getting a number of people back from injury, and they should have some semblance of a running game with Westbrook. While Philly's offensive line is suspect, the Jets defensive pass rush is guilty (of loving too much  ?)- they have 3 sacks on the season (3rd fewest in the NFL). It's weakness against weakness. You and I may be able to get to McNabb, but it's the Jets I'm worried about 😉 ...

Anywho, good luck to them. You may be right.

Now I have three things:

1) I have to pick a National Paper that everyone can access. If I choose a local paper I MUST let everyone know what it is to research the point spreads. Since I live in Michigan, the New Jersey Star Ledger is NOT at my local Supermarket.

2) I love the way you comment on these games. It works. I don't necessarily have to agree with you but I do like that you do it.

3) I am a HUGE Jets fan. From your lips to God's ears that they win this game. But I have to wonder are you smoking to think that the Jets will actually win this game??? McNabb can come to this game in a Tuxedo and bring his accountant and do his taxes right there on the field and the Jets still won't pressure him. This is not the Giants frontline chasing him ( which I am sure he is thankful for ), this is the Jets frontline. Heck, I could get my 84 year old Grandmother to put more pressure on McNabb than than the Jets will. But again, I hope you are right and I am 100% wrong. :bowing:

This week's picks (picks in bold)

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Cincinnati @ Kansas City- The Bengals lost CB Jonathan Joseph, suspended for a marijuana arrest in February. But there was some good news: Joseph was the only Bengal suspended this week. Bengals 1-6 against the spread after bye week since '99. However, I'm taking Bengals and giving up the points

Houston @ Jacksonville When I copied from the newspaper it didn't take the account that I might change my mind!!! 😛

Miami @ Cleveland- Dolphins QB Cleo Lemon is a great American success story: Undrafted out of Arkansas State, he went from the Arena League to the practice squad to emergency QB to No 2 and now will start in place of Trent Green. Even better, he knows how to cover on the road

Minnesota @ Chicago- Rejuvenation of the Bears is palpable after huge comeback win over Packers. Whether Cedric Benson ran hard last week depends on whether you listened to John Madden's analysis on TV

Philadelphia@ New York Jets- Eagles and Jets made the Giants' defense look like the Steel Curtain. Eagles, off last week, are 8-0 SU and 6-2 ATS after the bye week under Andy Reid

Washington @ Green Bay- Brett Favre is used to recovering from disaster, but sting of last week's collapse might linger with his youthful teammates. Skins dominated Lions last week, but Eagles did same in Week 3, then flopped against Giants

St. Louis @ Baltimore- Rams don't know how to win, but the Ravens don't know how to cover. Still, if a spread looks too good to be true, it usually is.

Tennessee@ Tampa Bay- Buccaneers are down to Earnest Graham, Kenneth Darby and just off-the-street Zack Crockett at RB against a Titans defense that ranks third in the NFL in yards allowed per game, though 10th in yards per carry (3.8)

Carolina @ Arizona- Now that the team is in Kurt Warner's hands, the team will be better off, although the loss of Anquan Boldin hurts

New England @ Dallas- Romo is 11-1-1 ATS when the Cowboys win- the first loss coming last week against the Bills. And New England's Tom Brady is 71-11-3 ATS when the Patriots win. He had his worst game of the season last week (105.7) but still covered when the defense returned a fumble for a touchdown with 42 seconds to play. Some guys have all the luck, but luck will run out, and the Boys win

Oakland @ San Diego- LaDainian Tomlinson is due for a breakout game. Daunte Culpepper threw for two touchdowns and ran for three in beating the Dolphins, but that doesn't mean he's back

New Orleans @ Seattle- Saints are making 2006 look like a mirage. Drew Brees has one TD and nine INT's; Reggie Bush got his chance to be the featured back with Deuce McAllister out and gained 67 yards on 21 carries. Seahawks are struggling, as well. Maurice Morris will start for Shaun Alexander, who gained 25 yards on 11 carries last week.

Monday Night Football
Monday, October 15th, 2007

New York Giants@ Atlanta- Giants DE Osi Umenyiora must be living right. Two weeks ago he obliterated Eagles backup left tackle Winston Justice, who was making his first start, for six sacks. Now he faces Falcons backup Renardo Foster, an undrafted rookie making his first start in place of injured veteran Wayne Gandy. For you fantasy owners of Umenyiora, get ready to rack up points
