Let's get it started....

Philly is just looking so good in the east, not sure who is going to beat them.

I'll tell you who...the Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals!!!

At the start of the season, I called Boston to beat Pittsburgh in the East, San Jose to beat Chicago in the West and Boston to take it all.

Right now, I think it's going to be Philadelphia beating Boston in the East final. Vancouver will beat Phoenix in the West and Vancouver wins it all under a phenomenal performance by Luongo.

Detroit will falter under as Jimmy Howard crumbles in the playoffs.

The coveted first draft pick will go to Edmonton, narrowly taking it from the mouths of (my) Ottawa Senators. :disgust:

Kings should make it but probably will not advance past the first round.....again......sigh

The Sabres have closed to within two points of a playoff spot & are playing the seventh place Rangers tonight & the eighth place Hurricanes on Thursday.

Hope my team's able to make it into the top eight 'cause there aren't many things greater than being a part of the NHL postseason.

:fingerscrossed:

Ah, the NHL and NBA playoffs. The only two sports with post-seasons that last seemingly as long as the regular season..lol

I don't necessarily buy that with Luongo, yes the guy won the Gold Medal last year, but this guy has not yet sustained himself in the playoffs for a full run. I won't mind being proven wrong by him because he seems to be playing the best hockey of his career, I just think that the Red Wings and Jimmy have had enough time out of the major spotlight and I think they will get back to the finals out of the west.

Now as for the East, I'm gonna try to hold my bias in check but lets look at the current divisional leaders.

Philadelphia, probably the most likely to get to the finals. Giroux and Carter are helping lead this team on and they will be a tough out for all comers in the playoffs.

Tampa Bay, I don't think they have the experience yet, I love Steven Stamkos but as with the Capitals, I think they have to learn to win in the playoffs before they become a serious contender.

Boston, Lucic is a pretty good leader, but I dunno about these guys after watching last season, they seem much too ripe to be knocked out by a lower seed.

Now to break and look at my Capitals.

After watching the game last night, I feel a lot better about our chances come the playoffs. Adding Arnott was hopefully an equivalent move to when the Capitals traded for Fedorov a few years ago. His veteran leadership I think will really matter come playoff time. And in addition to that, the defense is really ramping things up and Ovechkin is starting to hit his stride. They're starting to play really well and I look forward to seeing if this will finally be the year for them.

Current Vegas odds on 2011 Stanley Cup... Pittsburgh 9/2, Vancouver 5/1, Philadelphia 11/2, Washington 8/1, Detroit 8/1, Boston 14/1, Dallas 15/1, Chicago 18/1.

Those are current odds?

I'm very surprised they have Pitts on top when Cindy and Malkin are out...unless one or both came back in the last few days which i'm unaware of.

Yeah, those odds aren't accurate. They may have been from the beginning of the season, perhaps? The site I just checked has Vancouver at 4/1, Philly 9/2, Detroit 13/2, and Pittsburgh at 10/1 along with a few other teams. I would save your money betting on Pittsburgh this year. They have NO SHOT to win it all this year.

Let's GO FLY-ersssssssssssssss!!!!

Cros is the only player thats gonna be back this season, there's no way that Malkin, with that much damage to his knee is going to be back, but I am surprised at the really low odds for the Penguins there. They were able to win without Cros, I dunno if they can win without Malkin though.

See ya next week , Flyers.

Good to see no one is showing their biased opinion on here.

Anyway, I am a diehard Pens fan, but unless Crosby comes back, they won't win it. Most of their wins in the last couple months have come in shootouts and thats just not gonna cut it this time of year. Honestly though, no idea who comes out of the East. Philly has looked awful, Capitals aren't a legit threat until they prove they can beat someone in the playoffs, I mean there is something wrong with each team. Out west, yeah it's Detroit again. However, they ALWAYS have problems with the Ducks so we'll see. Ducks have only dropped 1 playoff series to Detroit in the past 10 years.

Unless one player is actually killed on the ice, the Boston/Montreal series will be a disappointment. Easily the best matchup of the opening round. Looking forward to it!

I'm a little pissed at how my Kings finished the season, losing back to back games against the Fucks....oopps, I mean Ducks, and setteling for 7th when they could have had 4th. Needless to say, I hope the Predators fucking sweep them!! However, I guess the first round against the Sharks should be interesting. I'm not expecting great things but one can hope. Go Kings!! :headbang:

I'm all for the Predators making into the second round...the better they do, the better the pick from the Fisher deal for Ottawa.

Possibly the nastiest match-up, next to Caps and Rangers.

IMO, I think that of every team currently in the post-season in the East, the team with the best chance to beat Philadelphia - is Buffalo, especially if Ryan Miller finds his game then look out. My picks: Boston vs. San Jose in the final, Boston wins in 6.
