This topic's been beaten up one side and down the other, but I found something that seemed to make sense...

Everybody's always noticed that TMNT's Don "The Tickler" Turtelli spent more time tickling the males on the show than the females. People wondered if he was gay. Well, I was watching "The Case of the Hot Kimono" (the one where April gets it), and after Turtelli's boat crashed, he fell into a trash freighter. He dug himself out of the trash, AND I QUOTE:

"This is enough to make a guy go straight."

I think our questions have been answered.

Ummmmm...could that mean turn from a life of crime? Just wondering.

Yeah I think he was referring to crime .. earlier in the episode about Kimonos, when Leo ordered him to return Splinter's kimono "..AND our friends!!",
Turtelli replied "DON TURTELLI RETURNS NOTHING!..not even library books.." (I still love that line. lol)

....then again, the writers of the series could've meant it BOTH ways. (after all, in the two-part pilot, the turtles weren't even afraid to kill, as shown by Raphael stabbing a Foot Soldier robot, before they knew what they were. "Clang? Did you say 'clang'?" lol If they could get away with "killing" the writers could slip in other jokes there. )

The graphic novels...

....were so much better than the cartoon. Raph actually had a real temper and killed lots of people in the graphic comic. I couldnt even get into the cartoon.

What about the new TMNT cartoon? I never read the graphic novels , but from what I've heard from people who HAVE read them, the new TMNT 'toon is closer to the old comics . It DOES seem more mature than the first series(for example, Leo chopped Shredder's head off in the new series..yikes!)...although it kinda stinks that April isn't a reporter..(what do they need the ex lab assistant version of her for? Donnie already knows how to build, use and hack computers and other things. Now, if she was still fired from her lab job, but then became a reporter in the new series, she might be more useful. )
