With all the hype surrounding The Dark Knight and The Joker being quite possibly the best movie Villain of all time, I'd like to mention another particular Villain that I thought was pretty damn good... just a notch or 2 below The Joker.

Anton Chigurh

This character was played by Javier Bardem. Bardem won the award for best supporting character in his performance.

Here are some clips for those of you who haven't seen the movie. The 1st one is the most talked about scene in the movie and the 2nd one shows how this guy doesn't give up in his pursuit of the 2 million bucks...

I'll give you that. Bardem's character in that movie was downright fucking scary. He could pass for a serial killer in real life any day of the week.

yeah i gotta give you that one, steve. i just watched that scene again, i've seen the whole movie, of course. but i can totally see what you mean. he was down right fucking scary, dude!!

i totally agree anton was probably the craziest and most ruthless movie villian ever!!! i heard that he'll be the new terminator in the upcoming movie. can't wait to see that

Most of the movie and the acting was top notch, but due to the
ending, I can't recommend the movie! I think my exact words
when it was over were "What the fuck was that?!"

The ending is rather easy to understand.

But There Will Be Blood is a far superior film.

seems like you really understand the ending... hopefully it's not the same thought process you used in understanding LeeAllure's response.

Tell me something, meangry... what's the most you ever lost in a coin toss!?

The Coen Brothers are up there as far as top filmmakers... That film was f'n brilliant and they finally got their Oscar for best picture...

I don't know if Bardem's performance was on the level with what I just saw Ledger achieve... but they were both phenomenal performances.

Totally agree, Javier Bardem was very terrifying in that role.

Lee, I actually liked the ending to this movie although I admit I didn't really get it the first time I got it. We can discuss in NH.

Oh, I got the ending just fine. I simply hated it 😉
I'd watch it again because the rest of the movie was good.

I'll agree the ending is certainly an acquired taste. They could have gone for something much more simple and crowd-pleasing like Chigurh getting killed in that car accident, but the Coen Brothers never like to let their audience off that easily. But definitely, the movie is incredibly taut and suspenseful until that controversial finale.

What amazes me about Javier Bardem is his unbelievable range. He plays a sociopath who kills with reckless abandon in "No Country", But he turned in another amazing performance as a paraplegic in "The Sea Inside", which is a beautiful film. How different can two roles be? He's an incredible actor.

His character in 'No Country...' is one of the most sadistic, powerful and scary performances I've ever seen.

I think that was everyones reaction. Weak as any bad movie script I've seen.

The only problem was that this was a GOOD movie!

Where did the Choens go wrong?😕

I've seen alot of movies and at least consider myself to be a moderate enthusiast of the sort, but... maybe I'm dumb, well, not maybe, but is/was there some 'hidden meaning' with the ending? I sure as hell didn't 'get it'. I understand much of the other subtext of the film (coin-toss/chance, etc.), but did I miss something with the ending?

Anyways, twas a great film, but I enjoyed There will be Blood more.

No Country for Old Men is a fantastic film. I just thought id throw that out there.

And yes the villian for that film played the part so well that I would be afraid to meet him in real life.

I lost my penis.
