November 22,1963-For those old enough to remember

For any of the TMF who were around at the time.I'm wondering whether you remember where you were when you heard the news? Did you sit glued to the TV all that weekend?
I was nearing the age of 4 but I honestly can't remember much. (also living up in Canada).When I first saw footage of the funeral procession about 10 years ago it clicked in my head that I might have seen the funeral on TV back in '63,but didn't realize or know what it was about.

That day I was 13 years old, in my junior high school art class, when the public address system suddenly came on, with a radio station giving news.

The first words I heard were, "... but Vice Presdent Johnson is not hurt, we can confirm that the Vice President was not shot." The implication was clear, and soon confirmed on the radio. The teacher stopped the class, and soon most of us were crying.

I couldn't stand to watch the whole funeral. I saw most of it.

I remember...

I was in first grade, and the principal made an announcement that school would be closing early. I don't remember what, if anything, they told the first-graders; my parents told me when I went home. I waited on the swingset, not really understanding what was going on except that all the grownups were crying.
