Its not low... is sickening! How someone could decide that the lives of hundreds of people were worth risking for the sake of stopping a few people shoplifting (no doubt there would've been some at the beginning... when they were suffocating or burning I doubt they would've still been trying). Besides, if he was worrying about lost profits, how was preventing the firebrigade from accessing the fire going to help anything?

This has got to be about the sickest thing I've ever read in my life! These people are cold blooded animals. The death penalty is too good for them, they both should be tortured and sentenced to a slow painful death where they suffer the tortures of hell. Who gives a damn how much money someone loses when innocent people's lives are in danger due to a natural disaster. I thought I heard of everything, but this is truly demented. I know Iam being strong, but Iam simply outraged. I truly hope they get either the death penalty or a life sentence in a prison, without hope of ever getting out, where they will be tortured every day for the vicious crime they committed. Just sick!

I hope the punishment these guys receive is the same punishemnt that I think Bin Laden should receive. You take both of them and tie them to a big stake. Then let one of the deads family members have at em. Then you let the jerks recuperate and you do it again with another of the deads families whaling on them. And this should be how they spend the rest of their lives. getting their asses kicked monthly by one of the deads family members. Mean. I know. But people like this don't deserve the comforts of an easy justice.

a tragedy, and a travesty of human nature. i agree with your anger... anger is what you should be feeling. however, perhaps his actions can be - not justified. never justified- but explained.

the kind of man who would do this is either a ruthless capitalist (perhaps not in the traditional sense) or a man literally mad with the poverty striking the country. i am not sure which. to him, the lives were worth less than the profit. this can happen in poorer countries, where human life becomes devalued.

perhaps there is hope. this too is human nature.

what i found most indicative of the tragedy was this:

Local television showed firefighters trying to plug holes in leaking water hoses with the soles of their boots.

the poverty!

i am not normally a pro-punishment man, but i hope that he is given at the very least a life sentence. perhaps some things cannot be forgiven.

How about if they would've had someone at the door to help in cases of shoplifting?

What about if they had a couple of folks work for food to help with the shoplifting if they didn't want to pay with cash?

What about if they left the same exits available they used to escape?

How about if they didn't do this at all?

It's a pretty shameful excuse to set people up for mass murder, but these guys will be appropriately charged. I also hope people get them in the pocketbook since that seems to be what they value the most.
