....this Wednesday night........Feb. 4th......7PM. Madison Square Garden....the Rangers retire officially # 35 ,Goltender, Mike Richter, star, all star and Stanley Cup winner and raise his Jersey/Banner to the Garden rafters.
DAMN I wish I could be there but nevertheless, on MSG Network and in HDTV too, there I will be a watching! All True Ranger Fans should be in front of their tv sets too!

You will be missed Mike!
You were one of the best!

I applaud you.

Hey dude:

That is very generous of them. He was the reason why they won the cup in 1994 and broke the 54 year curse.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy

Congratulations

I was once a Ranger fan. I was once a true blue Ranger fan...I go back to Rod Seiling (who everyone hated) and Arnie Brown.
I'm better now 😛
I'm pretty much done. I've seen the Garden management, finally, for the greedy mob of incompetents and hare brains that they are and have been for decades, and hold out absolutely no hope for substantial improvement of any kind, even with the kind of resources that could swallow up not only every other team in the league, but every team in every other sport. This while the team across the river, an extraordinarily well run organization with chump change resources won its third cup last April in eight years. Money isn't everything, of course, unless you're the New York Rangers, where you moronically throw it around, buying questionable talent for ridiculous prices, and then extort unheard of amounts from kneejerk loyals who go through the turnstiles. But not me. Not anymore.
The NHL's got this philosophy among the owners: it's OK to let salaries explode even though gate receipts decline. Strange way of thinking. The players union would rather die than help in finding a sane way to bring financial control to this runaway horse.
I think troubled times are here, not just around the corner. But never you mind! The New York Rangers will continue to play, charging hundreds of dollars for the red seats for exhibitions against the Albany River Rats.

Agreeing with Knox...

Yeah, it was weird watching the Rangers drop the ball like that in the past decade...

We, north of the border, just chalked it up to pure capitalism, but there seems to be some pathology there...

Was it all aboot keeping up appearances? Or was it something in the water? Whatever it was/is, at least that once vibrant team called The Rangers have been shamed (hopefully) into making better decisions in the near future, by a justified critical media base.

Let's hope it works. 🙂

Nice rant, Knox. You're quickly becoming one of my faves to read.

Cheers.😀
