Has anyone here ever encountered anyone who is not very ticklish under normal circumstances.....but becomes deathly ticklish when in front of friends or other people?

I've recently met a young lady online who says that about herself.

How do you suppose something like that happens? Why?

It's certainly a new one on me.....
 
I have heard of this, and I've also heard of people who may not be very tickish when subjected to one ler, but deathly ticklish with another one. This serves to confirm my theory that tickling can also be emotional as well as a physical reaction. Perhaps the person in the situation you mentioned might be comfortable when alone with the one tickler, but nervous or squeamish when surrounded by others. I dont know how valid of a theory this is, but it may be worth some thought.
