ok a whiney ass thread if you will...

ok everyone here knows i''m having problems with my wisdom tooth..my dentist had scheduled me for an appointment on May the eighth...and in the meantime motrin has been pretty good at handling the pain...that is until last night..for some reason, and i'm not sure what the hell happened..the wisdom tooth must have shifted more or something..i was up all night with the most intense pain ever...i had to resort to four motrin, as the first two didn't work..so this morning i called the oral surgeon's office to try and get in earlier, like this week...she was soo sorry but they are booked...and the only other oral surgeon in town is also booked...so i call my regular dentist and say motrin ain't gonna cut it, i believe i'll have to have something stronger..and they are calling in loritab...gesh...i have three options here..

1. take the loritab and be in a fog for the next four weeks, thereby ruining my vacation that was supposed to happen in three weeks..

2. take the motrin instead, and risk harming my liver...thanks to what steph said yesterday and the information i then decided to read on my motrin..

3. take nothing and be a major pain in everyone's ass lol..

no matter which option i decide..vacation is probably out, as almost everything hurts to eat...cold especially....i'm literally screwed as usual..

sorry about this whiney ass thread, but i'm in major pain here and feel like kicking someone's butt..

isn't a wisdom tooth that basically is killing you considered an emergency??? gesh...and isn't taking loritab for that many weeks risking the danger of addiction??? don't these doctors think before they prescribe? and is loritab also hard on the liver? god...i live in a town with only two oral surgeons.. yet a million gynecologists...rats..

If the gum is swollen it could be an infection. I'm not a dentist and can't see it so I can't really give any advice. If it's causing you that much pain I would suggest that you get someone to look at it a lot earlier than may.

i can't...my dentist made this appointment for me...that's the earliest i could get into an oral surgeon..there are only two here...and when i called today, begging to push it forward, she was soo very sorry, but they are booked..so what can i do? nothing...thanks though for the advice..

Maybe see your doctor? Things are very different in England to America so it's hard for me to understand or advise you. I would say for your own safety not to take medication advice from anyone online though. If you don't know something yourself you should see a doctor or nurse in person. Let them look at it. Some people here pretend to be qualified to give medical advice but they're not really. I'm saying this to help, not to patronise you or tell you what to do 🙂

I cant believe they wont squeeze you in for an emergency. thats ridiculous. you might want to consider locating to a new area to live. maybe health care down there in the mountains isnt that hot. now if you move up here to the boston area, your problem would be solved pretty quickly.

o i know hon...i didn't think you were patronising me..i'm just sort of letting off steam...i won't take anyone's advice about medicine from online..i've had loritab before, two years ago after major surgery..i just don't wish to be on something for four weeks...rats..lol thanks and don't worry..

Midol helps with pain Yes I know it's for women when it's that time of the month a few years ago I had a bad tooth ache It didn't bother me when I was up and driving Trying to sleep was a different story Another trucker told me to take Midol for the pain when trying to sleep

Another way would be to go to the hospital emergency room They may provide a prescription for antibotics The antibotics will help keep it from getting infected Hope you feel better soon

If you bug your dentist enough he might find a way to squeeze you in, but you must talk with the actual dentist and not his stupid receptionist.

thanks Zoddy yea midol has helped much in the past..i'm going to try and stick with the motrin.....yes if it gets truly bad, the dentist's office said to go to the emergency room..wow...they are sooo compassionate...lol

lespieds and maniac......i've never been to this dentist before..it's an oral surgeon...my regular dentist has sent me there..how on earth could i get past the receptionist to talk to someone who according to her is booked solid until may eighth the day of my appointment..

Talk to your regular dentist. have him pass along the word to the oral surgeon. dont give up!

Take the medicine. Given the choice between pain and drug induced euphoria, I know what I'd choose.

Your own regular dentist should be willing to look at it and see if it's an emergency situation or not. If it is, he can call the oral surgeon and ask that you be taken after normal hours as an emergency.

If it's not really an emergency, then take the strong pain medicine, don't suffer.

See if your dentist can refer you to someone in Charleston that can see you sooner,you should not have to suffer like that.

no need to apologize Kitten...of course it's not a life or death emergency...and sorry if i called anyone stupid...it's not the receptionist's fault i'm in pain..i just have to accept the fact that until i finally get it out, it will continue to give me trouble...last night it didn't hurt me at all..weird, huh? guess it shifted all it needed to for a bit..sigh...so i'll not take the loritab..sorry to be a whiney butt...lol...guess the quitting smoking kind of makes me grouchy....and i have now been smoke free for a month....whoohoo

I had to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth out because they were all out of place and causing me great pain. One of them was actually on it's side a little bit inside my jaw bone so they had to shave a little of my jawbone out to get to it. My wisdom teeth were causing me serious headaches by my temples, a dull ringing in my ears and my jaw hurt constantly. Finally I got 'em pulled out and all was saved. Of course I was spitting out more blood than Gene Simmons at a KISS concert for about a day but everything healed including the bone that ws shaved a bit. I had no choice, they had to come out or my teeth would look like those guys in Deliverance. Good luck Izzy!

uh...thanks i think...you don't paint a positive image there....lol spitting out more blood that Gene? ack...ya the one causing me the problems is lying horizontal, under the gum, pressing against the teeth beside it...and yea i have headaches in my temple...my two upper wisdom teeth came in long ago, there was room for them for some reason...i think because i had had two teeth pulled previously to make room for my braces..i don't remember now..but i'll be fine....and ain't no way i'm missing my vacation damn it..i'll just bite the proverbial bullet and take it like a woman...hehe..
