Ok does this make any sense to you?

Yesterday the ever clever hubby brought home a cleaning duster type thingie that you spray from a can..and then proceeded to spray the hell out of the back, sides and front of the harddrive..when he went to turn the computer back on, everything had been wiped clean...so last night he had to re format the computer for the second damn time in two weeks..the time before was my decision to reformat..get rid of everything that i don't need etc..but last night this duster thingie wiped out everything..is that usual??? lol...

Wait, so the computer won't even boot up? If that's the case, chances are your glorious "hubby" forgot to take static electricity into account when he cleaned the PC. Either that or the pressurized air itself did it. In any case, if it won't boot up, it's probably fried.

No what happened was everything for the past two weeks got wiped out..my background desktop..all my pictures, files etc..and windows professional which he had installed was wiped out and it kept booting on with windows xp..if i couldn't boot up, i wouldn't be here silly lol.

If not grounded, static electricity would likely permanently damage the hard drive, and not just wipe it clean. Magnetic discs are very "sensitive" to that type of thing.
