OMG, what a giant boxer!

Just saw a boxing match on German TV, and one of the boxers is a veritable giant!

Nikolai Valuev, Russian, 31 years, 7'4", 324 lbs!

Although his movements often looked a little clumsy, he can be real fast. His opponent looked like a dwarf, despite his own 6'5". Somehow Valuev reminds me of the unforgotten wrestler André the Giant. Sorry, I wasn't able to find a decent pic of him.

I found some photos and information on him. According to one site, He is 6'11" but it didn't give his weight. I still wouldnt wanna be in a boxing match against him.

Thanks for the pics. But the 6'11" is definitely an understatement. All other sources have him at 217 cm. I recalculated my metric/US conversion of yesterday, and it turned out I had neglected the decimals a bit. He's actually 7'2".

Nevertheless, I wouldn't want to make this guy the least bit angry...

At that kind of height, you gotta imagine the reach of this man. He can probably jab you when you're both on opposite corners of the ring! No losses either. A future champion in the making?

The long reach is not the real problem, but the psychological aspect is. His promoter said he's got big problems to find boxers who would fight against him. However, a really fast guy with some decent courage could beat him. Boxing is more than pure size and strength.

Oh, just found out another staggering thing about him: He's got shoe size 17. Next size would be a kid's coffin, I guess... 🙄

But then, the Americans are used to tall sportsmen, from basketball and football.

If really 217cm, then he is shorter than Margo Dydek, the WNBA player from Poland. 😛 (Not that she boxes.)
